As title says been here half hour nor moved.
And stupid highways agency are useless
Was travelling north 2 of them came onto m6 lights on do not pass fair enough.slowed traffic down to a stop. I am at front of the que behind them. At the 300yard marker to service entrerance. .
And there not letting anyone go into the services
I got out said can I go in park up said no. Also stopping cars going in …
Panic over open again now
I assume you are the passenger of said vehicle and not admitting to both using a phone while in charge of a motor vehicle, and walking on a live motorway in a non emergency…?
If not, then I must issue a very British tut tut and forceful wag of the finger…
A discovery, towing a trailer with a large hopper type thingy, ended up facing the wrong way, at about 1515, when I went back past at about 1700, they had just moved it all to the Hard-shoulder…
I was in neutral engine off.
Highways 4x4 was parked in front of me he was walking along must of stoped about 3 cars trying to cut up the hard shoulder trying to maybe take a short cut or maybe they needed the services.i did get out put my hi viz on to be safe and asked if I could limp into.the services to park up was told no.
Can’t see why though but o well
And just to add to the misery after my 45 min break. I carried on wanted come off the m6 at j19 to get back to Trafford park.and couldt come off .
It was closed as there was a burnt out shreddies trailer on the slip road

Im guessing they thought you would just drive through the services and straight back out again?
So maybe a daft question but what would be so bad about doing that?
Sure there would be a high traffic flow but if there is a road that goes around the edge of the services and merges back onto the m6. Would ease the backlog on the m6 and people wanting to enter would be able to pull into the car park. Highway crew could clear the blockage and traffic would at least be moving if only slowly. . . Just post someone in the service road to keep traffic flowing to prevent gridlock

Its safer to keep the traffic in one place and stationary than have them driving round causing chaos and potential extra work. Imagine all the oldies on their coach tours wandering around.
I suspect if the incident was going to run for hours they might consider that, but would need assistance of police since some would just ignore HATO.
Not sure if the services bit is 100% privately owned from the “end of motorway” sign, but unless theres a legal obligation, they might have to pay them. Not sure.
