M6 junction 2 via m69 & A5 , a426 rejoin m6 at junction 1

Just wondering if anyone uses the route regularly going off the M6 at junction 2 up the m69 to junction 1 then turning right heading back down the A5 to the A426 and rejoining the M6 at junction 1 just wondering what the mileage is or how much extra time it adds going that way . I know I can just carry on the m6 just wanted to find out as the m6 is closed between junction 2 to junction 1 southbound of a night for the next couple of weeks

where you coming from and where you heading too…

From Birmingham junction 6 to the m1 I know I can go A45 , M45 and join the m1 at junction 17 which I’ve been doing but noticed a sign last night they are going to be closing a stretch of the A45 by the big DHL/UK mail Hub not sure how much of that stretch they are gonna close next week for a few nights so that messes that route up

Going M69/A5 adds about 6 miles (and less than 15 minutes) to the journey. I’d probably continue on the A5 and join the M1 at J18 (or even continue on the A5 and pick up the M1 at J16) but that’s just me preferring to avoid the droning monotony of the Motorway.

as roy said , you’ve only got weedon lights to contend with nice steady ride

Not any more there’s a bypass before the lights at Weedon, just swing a left at the roundabout and it brings you out at jct16

Just looked at googlemaps. That’s interesting to know, I wasn’t even aware of that new road.
