Why stop in Lane 1? I really would like to ask that question to people when they do things like this. I also like to ask people who own white cars not have there lights on in thick fog! Why do they do it? Having a Audi seems to make people think they can cut you up and force there way in, why?
Answers: The bus finally broke down next to a footbridge where no hard shoulder existed; it’s drivers of silver and grey cars who predominate those who won’t switch their lights on in conditions of limited visibility during the day - dunno why. True about Audi drivers though - I presumed they were annoyed at not being able to afford a BMW, though they are typically impatient too. Did anyone mention the bus driver was drunk and presumably not Polish? btw I am not intending to link the 2 Orys, rather the opposite.
GasGas:
Did you know that the police have refused to name the bus owner/operator, and VOSA won’t say if they have investigated the bus owner/operator (which isn’t Stagecoach)?
Unusual, given that the truck driver’s employer WAS mentioned and was blameless.
At the time of the crash the ex Stagecoach bus had the legal lettering for Fusion Personnel Ltd of Quinton, Birmingham. They hold a PSV operators licence for 8 vehicles.
I have no idea why VOSA and the police refused to divulge who owned/operated the bus.
Kerbdog:
I suspect there are a lot of people who would limp on if their vehicle was restricted in speed like this fella. Interesting to see the posts underneath, one guy said “What the hall is a slow lane, they are all the same on a motorway”. Actually Mr. know it all…they aren’t, there is an inside lane and then there are overtaking lanes. Another example of people who know everything but actually not knowing really anything.
It wasn’t a Stagecoach bus, but a private bus ferrying employees from fruit picking, we all know what that means then.
Come on kerbdog your surely not so stupid as to realise that the poster you mention was referring to the speed limits of each lane on a motorway and he is quite right saying they are all the same.

The left lane isn’t an overtaking lane (usually!) and the other 1,2, or 3 lanes are - so by that calculation the slower traffic uses the left lane eg slow lane. On the open road which rarely happens now in our 24hr world all lanes can be driven at the posted limit or the national one. So Kerbdog is correct.

Does nobody think the truck driver should have been able to stop if he’d been driving at an appropriate speed for the conditions?
Where do you draw the line?
You come upon a stationary vehicle in dense fog, what speed should you be doing? 20mph? Someone is going to rear end you.
The simple fact is that no-one would have died if the driver did his job and removed them from the bus when it broke down, not sat there for 15 mins until the impact.
Of course he should have been able to stop. How many times do you drive down a motorway in thick fog and see vehicles flying passed at ridiculous speeds.
Unfortunately some drive at these speeds never believing there will be a broken down vehicle or a vehicle traveling very slowly.
9 times out of 10 they probably get away with it.Complacency leads to accidents.
It is the same with vehicles that travel far too close to each other.Just accidents waiting to happen.Tragic.
socketset can you please give a proper explanation as to how kerbdog is correct.
You certainly are not correct because there is no such thing as a slow lane.
Question for you…1.What is the speed limit of the inside lane on a motorway?
2. What is the speed limit of the middle lane on a motorway?
3. What is the speed of the outside lane of a motorway?
Please try to answer correctly.

Theres only one lane on a motorway and that’s Lane 1. The other lanes are overtaking lanes

Absolutely brilliant…the intelligence is stunning…only one lane on a motorway…the others are overtaking LANES
Priceless…
Come on what about an eloquent answer to rudimentary subject?
Subject : Motorways.
Number of lanes assuming there is only one(trick question) Possible answers : 2 3 4 or more?
Can the inside lane be called the slow lane?
Can the middle lane be called a lane or just an overtaking lane?
Can the outside lane be called lane 2 3 or 4 or more or just an overtaking lane?
Is the speed limit the same in all lanes for cars?
Is the speed limit the same in all lanes for trucks?
Is the speed limit the same in all lanes for coaches?
Time limit for answers no more than one month and cheats will be disqualified.Children are allowed to answer but must not beat adults.(and that is a possibility.)

Come on don’t be spineless.Back up your statements please or at least have the decency to apologise. This is supposed to be a forum for discussion.
Some on here think truck drivers are never wrong.Being a truck driver for many years I am appalled at standards these days.
At least explain why there is only one lane on a motorway? Don’t hide your heads in the sand like some do when they hear things they do not like.
Be a man for once!
I think you’re being ignored.
Bump.
Combination of factors caused this crash.
Although the bus had stopped in the inside lane, the lorry driver must take some of the blame.
What if the coach had stopped in the inside lane because of traffic?
Thick fog, as we all know is very very dangerous, the lorry driver may of been going to fast for the conditions.
Hey lay off the audi drivers am on my 5th never had a accident and don’t cut people up,
Idiots drive many diff car’s as well as lorrys !

Ha I know I am being ignored and I also know why. What a shame people cannot back their statements up.
