On Friday morning about half 9, I came to a halt on the M25 half a mile before J25 and sat there for about 40 minutes. For at least half that time there was nothing coming the other way neither. The matrixes were saying “Pedestrians in road”.
Anyone know if it was a protest or summat? When we got going again there was nothing to be seen and I’ve seen no news reports. I was coming off at 25 too grrr.
Seems strange that how ever since gantries were installed that those exact sections of motorway have continous ‘issues’ with ‘pedestrians’ and ’ ‘obstructions’ or ‘animals’ etc creating a pretext for reduced limits put up on the new signage. All of which clearly being lies.
At least the Norvenors don’t lie they just tell the truth trying to reduce emissions to meet the Paris Accord stitch up.
I was on there at that time and I didn’t see any pedestrians. I reckon they make ■■■■ up just to give a reason for the delays. I have noticed that pedestrians seems to be up on the boards a lot recently but I have yet to spot any walking along the motorway.
Not long ago on the M60 m62 I think.
I saw signs oncoming vehicle everyone slowed down. No sign of any police highways or anyone.
Then few days later same area same sign on coming vehicle .
.
Does make you wonder if it is a ploy to slow you down…or somebody in the control centre bored thinks have a laugh messing with the signs
There’s one on the M5 northbound near Worcester saying 30 min delay between junction 2 and the M6 entry which has been on for at least 2 weeks , it was still on up to last Wednesday , surely they can see at the control centre it’s showing that message wtf ■■?

Yesterday evening, M6 through Staffordshire, “slow oncoming vehicle”, yet they still had the 60 up on the gantries, saw nothing.

I saw that once , does make you grip the steering wheel a bit tighter & brace for impact , or it did me , as you I never saw anything
What typically happens is that drivers see a vehicle going the wrong way on an exit slip road. They make emergency calls to report it and one of the first things control room operators do is activate the overhead signs saying “Oncoming vehicle” for several miles on the approach with a 60mph speed limit automatically added by the system. Due to the potential seriousness I don’t think they even add the words “Report of…” as they do with unconfirmed reports of accidents, stranded vehicles etc.
They’ll start using the CCTV cameras to confirm/pinpoint the incident and despatch their own resources as well as Police. They won’t cancel the signals until they are certain the danger has passed.
Meanwhile the plank who drove the wrong way will, in the majority of cases, realise their error, turn round on the slip road and bugger off sharpish before the signals have even activated…
