M25 crash and fire

How dose a lorry go up in flames like this?

During the war……

Nah, seriously in the past it was almost unheard of for a truck to catch fire unless it was a result of a load fire spreading out from binding brakes or similar. Nowadays they seem to explode like a bad American movie. I imagine that it’s a combination of the high temperatures that the exhaust system runs at combined with miles of wiring and sensors.

Perhaps.

Just seen the footage of the actual crash and it looks to me like it was probably a gas powered truck in this case and that the tank took the brunt of the impact with the barrier with predictable results l

So another prick running a firm pandering to the leftys and the greens (especially that Milliband imbecile and his ‘Net zero’ bullcrap ) by buying electric and gas trucks instead of ‘proper’ proven ones…because the alternative is soooo much better…newsflash, it aint.

Hope the driver was ok though whatever.

The big retailer Walmart bought a ‘green’ truck years ago wanting to be first on the ‘green’ bandwagon. It was some kind of hybrid with auto transmission. After a while this truck disappeared, it turns out it went back to the garage and a ‘proper’ diesel engine fitted with a ten speed manual gearbox which was pretty much standard back then. It was painted white like the rest of the fleet and given a new number. It was like they were covering up a mistake.

Yep…a classic example of putting some oick in charge of a trucking outfit,.who knows the far end of f/all about it.

Maybe not.Looks like the unit made an uncommanded left turn over the solid line and hatching and then jackknifed.Just as easily explained by a common rail fuel system failure spraying diesel all over the engine and exhaust and the unit’s tyres.

Edit: misread Robs post I do whole heartedly apologise Rob.

The truck went up whilst driving and then jackknifed.

Tiktok video of it happening if people can view it, pretty sure you don’t need an account to view tiktoks but could be wrong.

Actually looking more carefully the truck veered into something like armco and that’s what caused the explosion.

But still probably a driver doing too many hours and being expected to do too many hours of even a medical episode.

Actually again viewing it looks like it hit a stationary vehicle.

I’m curious now as to what you put.:joy:

Gave up trying to get out of Kent to go north about three hours ago. Gravesend at a standstill because KCC & the water company are still arguing over who is going to pay for the landslip in Northfleet, so that road has been closed for about 18 months now. M25 & M26 shut both ways and the Dartford Tunnel has been shut as well plus there has been a car transporter crash on the M25 in the Watford area. No news yet when either will be open. A25 choked and as for London…

Misread it as you labelling a driver as a half wit as you do tend to do a lot. Unless that is what you meant of course. But I also didn’t watch the clip enough before trying to figure out what happened either.

When sometimes we jump to conclusions just like I did reading your post.

Post in haste repent at leisure as they say.

No probs.
Nah not in the slightest mate, I know nothing about the lad who had the accident, it could happen to any of us.

i was talking to a tesco driver last night as it happens and from what he was saying they really dont like paying over time. to the point that if you go over the planed times on one day you will have either no work or a very short run the next.

Apparently there have been three bridge strikes by drivers in the depot i used to work out of in the last year. the latest one cost them over a million draw what conclusion you will from that

I’ve often thought that there’s a good case for a couple of coastal ferry routes linking Ramsgate with Felixstowe and Poole. In a similar way as the ports of Trieste and Split and Dubrovnik are linked by ferry services.

Tesco definitely don’t make drivers max out hours. We’re part of tesco and do more than them & barely ever do over 45hrs. If a Tesco driver is tired it’s through lack of sleep at home not over worked.

I’m on agency with them and each time it happens we get an new video to watch or a new questionnaire to sign. Last week it was a questionnaire and a video so I wondered if it had happened again.
