I think the plan is a ban in both directions.
On Thursday the northbound signs were uncovered and the southbound ones had the offside lane display covered over, so presumably they are coming into operation shortly.

is this operational yet as the sign only has the weight limit covered up, you can still see a truck sign so does that mean all trucks are banned from using it
I believe it begins this coming monday morning, 7am to 7pm.
From what I have seen, the southbound restriction DOES begin towards the top of the hill.
There are signs up for another overtaking ban on the A34 as well.
Its starting to get very German around these parts.
I suppose we could abandon the motorways and drive through the towns and villages.
The original idea of motorways was to relieve the A & B roads of through traffic.
It shouldn’t make much difference because whenever I’m on the A14, sticking behind a slower truck as I’ve been instructed to do by the signs, I tend to lose count of the trucks that come roaring past both me and the other law abiding drivers!
Personally I can’t afford the fine, the points or the driving without due care, conviction.
