Is it me or is the M1 every sat morning turning into a demolition derby, seems every week thers always at least one shunt, this sat there was two only couple of junctions apart and around twenty + miles of tailbacks.
as is the norm the southbound could not resist the slowdown to have a good look, but without the shunt,to add to northbound delays.
all this happened in good weather, dry and sunny.
i got stuck in the toddington crash, at first it was a 3 car shunt in the outside lane (second overtaking lane) but as that was about to be cleared away a car slowed down to see the damage and was shunted up the back by a tdg truck that didn’t slow down.
i had a mate southbound who told me to stick with it as the 3 cars were all but done messing about, a couple of minutes later the paramedic, a couple of fire engines, police and ambulances went past and i knew that there was more to it.
everything went down to the hard shoulder and 1 hour later i was through and heading north at 90kph viewing the southbound tailbacks for about 4 miles, i find it difficult to believe that so many people can take so much pleasure in viewing someone elses misfortunes.
This slowing down to ‘rubberneck’ should be made an offence, due care or even dangerous driving because on a motorway thats exactly what it is, DANGEROUS DRIVING!
The M1 is like that most days. Got to agree about rubber necking though. Put a good half hour on my driving time today.
what gets me with rubbernecking is in today,s world you would have thought they could come up with some sort of screen that could be put up in mins and solve the problem,if they cant see it they have no need to slow down.
hope everyone was ok including the one being cut from car.

There are screenes available, and they are simple and easy to erect, but like most other things these day its pobably down to a price, not up to a standard.
