Saddened to hear they are selling up and getting out of this great industry.

Company Check shows that that the company had a net worth of over £830,000 when it posted its 2014 accounts so presumably it’s because the owner is retiring?
Cannot see it as a retirement auction considering the age of the fleet, somethings gone wrong, fall out of some sort.

Might be, it’s just not the usual story of a company which has gone skint. As a limited company, their accounts are on the internet for anyone to see, and I wouldn’t personally mind having these figures.
There’s pictures on here somewhere of a 400 series sed Atki 8 legger they ran .

very close, all I can say is “families” and pig headedness and that came from a very close source
Couple of new shape Fh’s, rest other fleet is pretty sharp, see them all over the south, seems a great shame.
Yes they r selling up
Seems a bit harsh to wish someone dead just because of a falling out over a few lorries! What I remember of Simon, he’s a thoroughly nice bloke although it has been a few years since I’ve seen him
A shame to see yet another company folding, especially a smaller family concern
Such a shame
Hmmm…
I thank you
Family row causing heartache and unemployment for staff is one thing, but bringing a family arguement onto a trucking forum is not classy either really.
Its a shame, if true for all involved.
I passed the yard on the way to work this morning, thought it was strange to see gates closed and the fleet parked up on a Friday, now I know why. I bet the kit attracts top notch prices at the auction, it has always been tidy.
Very sad to see MT Barnsley closing down. Was shocked to see the fleet on Malcolm Harrisons auction page yesterday. They will be sorely missed by the scrap metal industry. It was hard enough to find decent outside transport, even before this happening!
Best wishes to all the drivers, and the Barnsley family.
Looks like a nice old F88/86 they had thats going to the auction as well

It went for just under £10k on the hammer but I wasn’t clear if it met reserve or not. An old F10 dragged out of the hedge and in need of serious work went for just under £4k as well.
