What might the traffic be like on a Friday afternoon on this route any ideas please ?
All depends which way you come from Lux to Calais, coming up towards Lille if it is around 15-0ohrs you will get a lot of traffic, if you come back via Brussels you will get the traffic also round Gent. you could use the national from Lux n43 upto Cambrai then onto a26 should be ok, plus all depends on the time you come back.
BB, pit stop at Habay truckstop Belgium, top nosh food and showers, there are Pizza hut outlets on most Msa,s in Belgium .

Correct it’s a car and wobble box articulated combination and I’ll be paying the tolls and with the van it’s 50% on top again but I don’t mind paying toll money if it gives me a clear run, I’ll be coming back from Italy by the way.
Id be heading over to the 26 in some way, which should give you a straight trouble free run into calais.
Just dont stop on the 26 at any services unless its a real emergency.

I was thinking Lille, Namur, Lux to save on tolls and cheap fuel in Lux but I realize this will be more congested especially this time we’re doing it in the day as opposed to overnight.

Yeah well aware of that, the illegals would love to break into my van, double bed, duvet, a good stash of beer, wine, cigarettes, cheese etc etc, and they wouldn’t want to get out once they’ve reached Blighty.
