The last time I was at my docs he asked me about smoking, I said I gave up smoking over thirty years ago. He put ex-smoker on my medical records.
Two months later I get a letter from the NHS saying I’ve been invited to have a lung check up as they have one of their mobile CT scanning units in the Tesco car park near to me.
Anyone here had it done?
I’ve had a mri scan in a mobile scanner at hospital , straightforward other than halfway through they had to stop scan as I was desperate for a pee , they said why didn’t you go before , I had
Ct scan , I had one for kidney but in hospital , straightforward , had them before for prostrate
Not had any scans ( ct / mri ) that have bothered me .
I’d have it lancpun , if you’re thinking not to , without scans as I I’ve said ( mri prostrate ) I know we’d of never been aware of a cyst on kidney , and subsequent kidney tumour
Only treatment I’ve not liked is prostrate biopsy while awake , everything else is ok
Best of luck I’m sure you’ll be fine
Cheers for that, ady, Yes I agree the prostate biopsy was the worst, I had 24 taken & I felt 20 of them, the local anaesthetic didn’t work so good.
The reason I was a bit apprehensive was I thought they were going to put you on a treadmill to gauge your breathing prior to the scan, but I’ve since found out that’s not the case.
I have bad osteoarthritis in my right knee these days & wouldn’t be able to do that.
Yes, I’m going to the appointment next Tuesday to put my mind at rest. The first three places I worked at from leaving school at 15 were all asbestos buildings.
The last MRI scan I had done picked up shadows on both lungs, so I want to know if there’s any change.
I never had a treadmill though as I say my cat scans were prostrate & kidney
It’s poor they’ve not followed up on previous scans , we’re still mystified that they saw a small cyst on my kidney 5 years ago & it then took them to now to say it had changed to complex cyst / tumour , I can’t believe it’s only just changed , so what were they looking at on all the mri scans I’ve had over the years , did they not spot it was changing ? We’ve left it as I’ve had a good outcome , but it could of bern so easily out the kidney , same as my trust said rising psa was infections , Leicester say no , in 33% of cases it can be cancer getting more aggressive
If I’d not had the outcome , prostrate / kidney I’d of Bern asking more questions , seen doctor recently & he said where are with heart ? I could only reply I’m as wise as you
They’ve all Bern stars with me , nurses etc but even the mrs , nhs manager is not happy with a lot that’s gone on , daughter ( nurse ) was looking after me in Leicester when she’d just come to visit , she realised cannula had come out , and reattached it .
Not sure if I’ve had a prostate biopsy or not. After sticking his finger up my bum the doc said it was enlarged and booked me in ‘to have it done’.
In hospital they did whatever it was they did, under local, an epidural, never felt a thing. Later I had agonising pain caused by a blood clot so they operated again, same way, no incision, and they left the monitor where I could see it, so I had a front row seat from the inside. Again no pain.
Afterwards they said all done and btw no sign of cancer. So did they do 2 things at the same time? No idea.
I was in & out in 20 minutes. They did ask about what contact I had with asbestos in my early working life & was I a heavy smoker or not, then onto the Cat Scan machine & that was it.
They will post the results to me in 7–14 days.
