Lorry moved without a card in

My lorry was left at the dealers for repair recently, once fixed it had to go to the local tacho centre to be re-sealed. It was driven the 3 kilometres without a card in. I collected it after it was finished, I put my card in as soon as it was handed back to me but I don’t know how I stand over them driving it with no card in. I’ve made a note of it in my defect book as it was beyond my control.

Advice would be appreciated.

No point in the defect sheet as it’s not a defect, the fact that the vehicle was used without a card is not a problem for you

Vehicles are often used perfectly legally without a card, ours are shunted around the yard everyday without a card, the last company I was at had the vehicles collected by the leasing company and driven about a mile for service or maintenance and a card was never used by the fitters.

Thanks for that Tachograph, I’d written the defect sheet covering the gearbox fault & aded it had been driven with no card to cover the missing 3 klms. Thanks again for the reply.

It is not your problem, recording finished when you booked off at the dealers and restarted when you booked back on. The VU will record the missing mileage and you are in the clear. Any tachograph centre worth it’s salt would stick a workshop card in to check the unit is working when they reseal it.

They were lovely chaps in the Tacho bay, they put the workshop card in as you say & told me everything was fine when I left.
Thanks for the reply Wheelnut. I’m still getting used to this digi & wasn’t sure how I stood.

Then if you do a vehicle printout, you would see exactly how long that workshop card was in the head, the tacho centre number and probably the technicians name, just like VOSA or the BAG would, sleep easy tonight won’t you? :stuck_out_tongue:
