Looking for work as a European Van Driver

Then you presumed right.

Perhaps you ought to think about taking the truck test? No disrespect but I’m sure it must be better to sleep in a bed rather than across the seats, and have the storage space which a truck cab has?

I used to drive vans all over the UK from the age of 19-21 until I was old enough to drive trucks and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I love driving trucks but there is a much greater sense of freedom with a van, no tacho, no weight limits and you can always go off the beaten track to see things you want.

I’m not sure I’d want to do European work in a van if it meant always sleeping across the seats but aside from that I think its a great way to drive and see things. You do what you want and dont have to bend over backwards for tachos and the WTD and endless amounts of jobsworths who want to have their say in how you drive your truck.

Look Harry…I like driving the vans. I don’t have the inclination to drive artics anymore. Thanks for the interest though.

I’m still puzzled, and perhaps you can help me to clear this up. How did you manage to drive artics if you’ve never had a licence to drive one?

Scroll back up Harry.

You presumed he’d need an HGV1 to drive artics in the army.
Big Vern said you presumed right.
Therefore he has a C+E licence. He chooses not to use it.

Sorted now ?

Simon…Vincent is like Columbo, he won’t give up. “Just one more thing Mam!” :unamused:

Last time I was sovereign freight in Colbrook looked for sprinter drivers, but it was a while ago (but then, they were advertising on their vans for long time as well, so either it was just old sticker, or they pay so crap that nobody last with them for long. But since you are screaming…

…ah, and it’s a LHD, registerd in Germany.

Premier freight in Bow London, they go to Europe in all sizes of vans and trucks.

Is this the same premier freight in basildon as im looking for euro work as well.

Only one word of advice for anyone thinking of buying a van and doing either Euro or Uk work as an owner driver… DONT !

If you have money to burn I can provide the matches.
ps. anyone want to buy two small vans ■■?

With marketing skills like these, no wonder that your business was destined to fail…

Next time try this:
“Buying a van and doing Euro or UK work is the best thing one can do… And it just happens that I have two small vans to sell, hurry, as they won’t be there for long!!!”

:grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

…where is my hard hat?

Orys, you do like jumping to conclusions without knowing all the facts don’t you?

A sense of humour (look it up in one of your many many reference books) while not a requirement but can come in handy, try it some time.
My newly started business hasn’t failed although I admit it is a lot quieter than I would like it to be, I am still within budget so ticking over and I can fall back on decent paying work as I have just done for the last three weeks to help it along.
Hope that is OK.

ps. the vans are not really for sale, unless of course someone wishes to pay me more than I paid for them. (good marketing idea)

Exactly. So smile, and get back to your business, I wish you all the best with it  It just looked funny, so I decided to add my three penny worth joke to it

Trust you to poke your oarys into it :unamused:

btw, the real British saying is ‘putting my tuppence worth in’ have you not learned anything in all the the time you’ve lived here?

Hi everyone, new to here so bear with me. I have read a lot of comments on here and have heard a lot about European Couriers/Drivers and was wandering if anybody knew of any openings/vacancies at the moment. I have recently returned to UK after spending the last three years touring Europe. I am 30, have a full clean license and desperate to get back in Europe, even if it is travelling around in a van delivering stuff. Any pointers?
