Looking for rc truck

i am looking for a remote control truck for my 5 yr old grandson, if anyone has any ideas be truly grateful, all i seem to get is ones for £400 plus

Get your hand in your pocket then. Nobody likes a tight grandad.

Try the modelsport website (maybe a little dear) or ebay or im sure u can get a stobart one

Try these…wonderlandmodels.com/product … e-control/

found this on ebay, cheap and nasty, don’t know how good it is or how long it will last

ebay.co.uk/itm/ON-ROAD-AMERI … 5d38dadb01

Remember that any thing like that will be very heavy on batteries. That sort of toy rather than model could be had for about £50.00.I would try TOYS R US or go on line.

Having funded my two sons’ RC racing I can confirm you may need DEEEP pockets very soon. We got thru a grand in 9 months before they learned to avoid solid objects. It’s very rewarding when they start winning. There are tractor unit shell that fit onto car/buggy chassis but I guess you want a truck and trailer with working gear, best of luck.

The rechargeable racing battery packs can be £30 plus, you’ll need 3 or 4 plus a good charger for a evenings’ racing but again, if you want a working truck this may not apply…until the would be LGV driver gets the taste for racing!

A Tamiya truck will be expensive, you can cheap ones which might be ok for a 5yr old but wont last long.

If you want something decent, look up FG Modelsport. I had a 1/5 scale truck a few years back, would top 60mph and did serious damage when it hit anything

thanks for all replies, the wonderland models looks good, then if he gets into it i might step up a gear, a grand in 9 months… dont forget im on truck drivers wages…!!!

My kids used to have the 1/18 scale Eddie Stobart truck and it was only about £50 but it seems difficult to get hold of now.

■■■■ the kids i want one for myself!!!

I found you a video of one.

I’ll ask the kids if they’ve still got theirs, I doubt it but if they have you can have it for a score plus P&P.

Sounds like a Renault premium going up hill!!!

I used to love going on the ones at lego land when i was a kid

There is a good model shop (massive place) off the A11 at Snetterton that’s really good also.

found that from watching that stobart one there custom built from Tamiya kits just looked how much a Scania kit was £312 :astonished:
then you have to buy a trailer
its not a bad watch mind

They had some in jcn 29 truckstop a while ago…Chesterfield, price i cant remember…but if your passing mite be worth a try… :sunglasses:

I use to race in the 1/10th modified class (cars) years ago and it can get really expensive, but if you buy cheap it will either be crap or break.

I had one of these lol absolutely useless out of the box, no grip at all, took it back!

I heard people modding them (rubber band around the wheels?) had some success, the one in the video seems pretty good!
