Looking for pictures - Thos Caunce - Rufford Lancs

I’ve been looking for pictures of this fleet for years, and have never found any.

They ran a rag-tag collection of AECs, Leylands, Bedfords, Austins - pretty much allsorts until the mid to late sixties, when they moved almost entirely to Ergo AECs.

They had Mandator artics and Marshal rigids (swb tarmac tippers and lwb flats). there were also a couple of bulk-tipper Mammoth Majors.

I’m looking for any pictures of this often-forgotten fleet from Rufford - which was probably bigger than Walter Southworths (and only a quarter of a mile away).

If anyone has any Southworth pictures, I’d love to see them too, along with Thos Guy of Burscough.

Blimey Bob Lad :open_mouth: You just beat me to it, I was just about to put the very same picture on here, I’m glad you did though, because yours is a better copy than mine

Just have to settle for this one, A Peter Davies pic

magic that different motors as well

Thanks Bob - if I’m not mistaken they were both taken by Peter Davies. The 22-cab motor is in the yard at Holly Lane (Rufford) and the 24-cab motor is on the Dock Road in Liverpool.

One of the original fleet still survives, having been restored by William Hunter - complete with three Guinness kits on the back

Here’s the restored motor - taken at the Fred Dibnah Memorial Rally, 2005:
