I love the models in local firms’ liveries. And I could well be wrong but that café looks as though it was modelled on the café at Gossington Bridge.

Great models.I was on the spanners for John James when the Atky was delivered. In the first week the front of the body detached its self from the body :unamused: Not one of Prails better jobs.Ernie Gaines was tipping a bit of excess load of and when he stopped the body on the way down the front just broke away.

Should have had it made at Rothdean!!!

Any photo’s would be great…

I posted these on Glos Firms thread also, they are not mine but I can share them, thanks Matt. Rossiter & James and Weston Transport…

Did anyone notice this picture in one of the truck mags? our brother worked for Waterloo Sawmills at Lydbrook for years and can remember them using these KM’s. This is the first picture I’ve ever seen of these…

Brilliant! Why had I forgotten all about them?

Must be the years. :unamused:

I called at the BUS? museum at Wythall yesterday just to see one bus.Its the one I worked on at Soudley Valley/Bevan Bros. Its the only bus there fitted with coach seats! Crafty grant scheme as I recall.25% off for a new service bus but fit with coach seats for trips. The bus still has Barry on the trip board.

leylandlover, as you worked at bevan bros were you there when they had the lorries, I used to drive the albion reiver tipper. I also remember they had Leland bear , unusall as a bulker

Yes Bazz,I also drove one of the Albions now and then.Freds son in law drove the ERF artic.I recall Dad Peachey. My ex father in law drove the buses. and an old neighbour from Brierley also drove coaches.

hi leylandlover, did dad peachey live just below kears bakery in yorkley , if so he taught me where all the midlands pits were when I started at bevans, also do you remember a lad called john from Gloucester who drove there

Bazz,I know Dad Peachey was a local but from which village I dont know.Sorry cant remember any John.

Hi leylandlover then that must be the little Tiger Cub reg WDF something ? Didnt they do a lot of Troop movements as well , they also had an AEC from a Hereford firm named Penn Overland that had toured India , happydays Wythall is a great place as is the Oxford museum . regards Keith .

Yes Keith,It is the Tiger Cub.WDF 569. Dont remember any AEC powered coaches. I do know they had a contract for moving prisoners from Gloucester Jail. The best coach there was 680 powered and only one driver allowed to drive it,Wally Dorrington from Brierley.(My village) Regarding the bus,the men let me get on board as it was in the garage.I walked up the gangway and stepped down onto the engine  The inspection panel was under a seat  Nice position for the two speed axle switch,on the steering column not the gear lever,■■? Enough about buses, this is Trucknet.

Another memory flashback. Arnold Cowmeadow from Steam Mills. Mostly Ford 4 wheel tippers. I did a bit of part time spanner work for him once. I had to make a rear spring up out of three old ones!!

Don’t remind me. Favourite job at John Margrett’s on a Saturday morning. “Nip down to our Rex’s and get two top leaves!”

Did anyone go to Coleford Transport Festival last weekend?

Yes I was there, a little disappointing on the commercial front but if your into tractors then there was plenty. I don’t know what the organizers priority is but it doesn’t seem to be very visitor friendly. A friend of mine went and didn’t even know of the commercials section or the competition cars section. He was under the impression that it was all in the town. No signs directing people to other attractions…Anyway yers a few of the trucks that turned up…

Thankyou Paul,Ugly yank crept in then
