You have answered your own question, the Eastern companies price the UK ones out.
Vans, trucks, it’s all the same, you’ll be very hard pushed to find a job unless you were prepared to work for eastern European wages. I’d love to be doing Euro work again, but on the rates quoted I couldn’t even cover my costs. I bet you could stand at Dover all day without seeing a British registered van go by.
When you have east European drivers running 3.5 tonners for the rates that uk drivers are subbing small vans for think 45-50 pence per mile.
The only uk guys doing alot of euro are owner drivers and a very few companies. If you go for any of them you’ll be getting very little sleep and sometimes it’ll be no sleep. You could try uk express/ nighttrunker or what ever there called this year mainly doing uk express for royal mail or some of the other major parcel companies. You’ll be sleeping across the seats of the van they’ve hired you during the day. And the pay is peanuts
Not sure whether you’ve found anything yet but you could try Scrivens Logistics,he runs a few vans doing Euro work, also JJX but they’ve usually got a huge waiting list…!
GBA use mostly Eastern European drivers now,you say hello to one in an Italian services for arguments sake and their accent gives them away.
Marken is another that specialise in Euro work but mostly temp controlled stuff, you could try Sovereign Speed,German based but they have a small depot in Calnbrook and before they had that they used to employ a few English boys.
You could try Balkans Transport, not sure how many vans Dave is running these days though.
There is another company from Manchester area who use YellowSprinters, they specialise in Euro Pharmaceutical work but their name escapes me,also you could try Eurosonix if they’re still going.
The work I do is off my own back and it pays well but you can be away for a week at a time, 5/6 days, odd trip can be longer, get a bed fitted and a night heater and winter tyres is the best advice I can give you.

I wouldn 't touch any of those, especially the first three mentioned, with a barge pole!
Do NOT work for - - - Express in Birmingham…They always advertise on Indeed. They advertise for a good reason because they work you to death and steal your wages when you leave.

I haven’t a clue tbh as I do all my own work…!
I just see the aforementioned across the water.
Basically it doesn’t matter where you drive to or from it’s the same [zb] wherever you are, your still just a van driver, some people glorify doing Euro work but it’s all basically the same,ok ■■■■ and fuel maybe a little cheaper

Jrc in Hull are always on the continent in vans, check them out on Facebook

Why would I want a job driving a van? I operate 6 trucks.
I know of all those mentioned and all have a poor reputation, the first three in particular have an extremely poor reputation for how they pay and treat drivers.
I know one them very well and treats his drivers very well
Both way he treats them and their pay
Prob pays them to much tbh
Just doesn’t suffer fools gladly and will fire them straight off
And the company reputation is very good with in the industry operates
So the reputation you prob heard is one the disgruntled idiots that prob been
Sacked
