Can someone help me so from next week we can drive more then 10hour a day? How much more? In the states iv been told there no tacho you can drive forever
You can from next week drive non stop until you are 73 years old, just like they do in the States. In fact it’s illegal in the
States to pull in for a break if you are under 65= years old
Wow can’t w8 to be working all them hours to be taxed 40perc.
Here a idea lower hgv tax bracket
Dimlaith:
It’s only going to take 1 fatality involving a HGV driver doing to many hours under this
relaxation for this to backfire. But, no doubt and rightfully so the driver will carry the can.
What happens if the “fatal impact” involves two trucks and anyone designated “VIP”?
Full Timers will now have the floodgates opened upon them - if salaried.
I wouldn’t be surprised if by the end of this year - drivers are chucking in full time jobs not to go on agency, but simply to retire early, as they’ve had enough of this 60-now 96 hour culture.

The reaction from the Grocery trade’s mouthpiece.
The move has been welcomed by the Federation of Wholesale Distributors, which has lobbied for the measure since the onset of the crisis in April.
“This is just what food distributors needed, an immediate and obvious solution to what could have been a catastrophic supply chain failure,” said FWD CEO James Bielby.
“The flexibility in drivers’ hours means those out-of-the-way shops, pubs and restaurants will get the stock they need for the big re-opening on Freedom Day, and will allow wholesalers to do as much as 15% more deliveries each day.
“Provided it remains in place into the autumn, it will avert possible school closures in September and shortages in the shops in the run-up to Christmas.”
One national wholesaler said the additional time would allow it to deliver up to 15% more loads a day
…Meanwhile, The Grocer understands that the government is also in advanced talks with industry to relax immigration rules with the introduction of a temporary visa to allow EU drivers to work in the UK

I am hourly paid, but I am seriously not interested in driving any extra. I get tired enough as it is. 13+hours most days. And then they insult us by saying oh well as the Eastern Europeans have gone we can get ex cons to drive instead, that says a lot about what class of person they think we are. I will tell my agency this morning I never signed up to this and will refuse anything that will take me over my 9 or 10 driving hours and will not do over 15 in total. It’s a ■■■&£ing insult. Just sort out the pay and conditions and the 70,000 that have a licence but don’t drive may come back. Oh I also see their was talk of issuing temporary work permits to foreign drivers!!!

So 10 hour driving every day with 11 twice a week with two consecutive reduced breaks – Runs from 12 07 until 08 08 .

[Withdrawn] Temporary relaxation of the enforcement of the retained EU drivers’ hours rules: all road haulage sectors in Great Britain - GOV.UK

Fantastic idea. Nobody wants to do the job in large part because of the ridiculously long hours so let’s extend the working week.
Your company has to inform the dft,if this is the route it intends to take.
You can’t just do it,off your own back.
Our company didn’t act upon it last time and I can’t see them acting upon it this time either.
Sir Geoffrey is a Micky take for Carryfast RIP , Luke are you going to the funeral ?
Ringfur mentioned Government advisors and policy makers should read the sensible comments on here .
Unfortunately the authorities do read Trucknet from DVSA enforcement, police , HMR&C and child maintenance or whatever they call themselves nowadays and numerous other law enforcement agencies.
Just ask Limeyphil when he is released from HMP, it’s intelligent gathering or harvesting similar to DWP monitoring social media for oblivious fraudsters stealing your tax money when posting having a lovely holiday in Jamaica in a five star resort while claiming JSA.
But they have a bad back or get dizzy but under cover photos show they are able to work.
Relaxation of EU drivers’ hours rules
The retained EU drivers’ hours rules can be temporarily relaxed as follows.
The replacement of either:
the permitted increase to the daily driving limit from 9 hours to 10 hours with one of 11 hours (allowed up to twice in 1 week)
OR
the requirement to take a regular weekly rest period of 45 hours in a 2-week period with an alternative pattern of weekly rest periods as specified below, and an increase to the fortnightly driving limit from 90 hours to 99 hours. This enables 2 consecutive reduced weekly rest periods to be taken
The alternative pattern of weekly rest periods for drivers using the relaxation related to weekly rest periods is as follows:
the regular weekly rest period in a 2-week period can be replaced by 2 reduced weekly rest periods of at least 24 hours
following this, 2 regular weekly rest periods must be taken. However, any reduction in weekly rest shall be compensated for in the normal way by an equivalent period of rest taken before the end of the third week following the week in question
in addition, any rest taken as compensation for a reduced weekly rest period shall be attached to a regular weekly rest period of at least 45 hours (which can be split over 2 regular weekly rest periods).
This relaxation must not be used in combination with existing rules for international driving, which allow for 2 consecutive reduced weekly rest breaks in certain circumstances.
It is not recommended this relaxation be used for drivers engaged partly in international journeys.
I’m not a hundred percent certain that this solves the problem.
