never going to get a high cube under there
A little nostalgia, Buzzer

Blimey! A caissemobile tilt on a PSK trailer! It was hard enough to reach the drop-side catches and TIR-cord eyelets when a caissemobile was on a skelly. This puts all that out of reach for a short-arse, so I hope the poor driver was over 6 foot.
makes no difference to todays brain dead steering wheel attendants
good spot @franglais a post from 10 years ago! where has the time gone.
regards
Colin.
Certainly not my memory performing such feats, just having too much time in front of a 'putor screen.
Here is a blast from the past, Transport Grenoblois stuck under a bridge in the New Forest in 1977, I can remeber that company well, Buzzer
Looks like Town Quay, looking up Bugle St.
That must be in the old P&O terminal on the Quai Southampton.
One of Auguste Perrin’s buildings behind SRF.
Monaco Hotel, Chantal’s Ferry Boat, Pierre & Nicolle’s Leopard, Jacques’ Piano Bar, Le Welcome, Le Winch, etc etc.
Ferry Terminal long gone from there now. No more phone calls from the P&O office saying “Tell the drivers to finish their beer and get on the boat now!”

This company were very regular into Southampton, IIRC they used to bring bottles to Martini in the docks and back load out of there as well, used to park in Lorraines lorry park, dont see them now so probably finished, Buzzer

Ah…Martini Southampton.
I loaded tanks from there for Eire a couple of times, but previous to that did loads of bottled Martini all over the UK. Lots of So’ton companies were involved in that.
Tautliners were starting to become more common, but I remember mostly doing rope and sheet work from there.
Rope and sheet did have a particular problem from there. The cartons all had small drops of glue on the top so they would not move when stacked on the pallets. Hence if you unsheeted by standing on the ground and dragging the sheet off… So you had get on top and roll the sheet up as you had rolled it out to start with. All do-able of course, but a trap for the unwary.
