I wondeed if the reg identified it as coming originally from P M Rees?

Can you not see the remains of a J. in the paint under the windscreen? Or is that a reflection in the super rich paint job?

I know most of us are “Old Fogeys” on here…aren’t you TIR Tone…I have posed this question elsewhere on this Forum.

What are the code listings at the end of a Type 2 tacho printout as given in the foto? I wasn’t driving the vehicle some of the dates mentioned. Is there anywhere to find these codes and anyothers that may appear there?

Excuse my ignorance Gazzer but is that a digi tacho printout? If so give me a wad of log sheets anytime.

The nice ERF belongs to Southwest Trucks as a shunter It was new to P M Rees then went J C Dean who gave it to one of the local Tech collages & when they had finnished with Southwest had it.
Cheers Rich
PS still going strong but they want one on air susspension so they dont have to wind the legs up :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :unamused: :unamused:

Yes it is Chris Webb. New fangled isn’t it!

This is from Lonewolf and 240 Gardner and concerns Southampton apparently the tractor unit belongs to the American equivalent of our NAFFI!

This is an interesting pic, its an Argosy built for the Aussie market and a particular favourite of mine. Whats one doing in Southampton?

I presumed at the time that it belonged to the U.S. military - I was just on my way to work in Ocean Village when I spotted it

A Hills of Botley Scammell pic courtesy of Marc(Bubbleman)'s Scrapbook thread

Was this a local truck as it has a Southampton/Hampshire reg

HoHoo! Pat. That Scammell with twin exhausts? Doesen’t mean it has a Detroit Diesel under the cab does it? I’m sure there were some with 6-71 lump or similar in there.

 hi there pat, hope all is well down south, just spotted the pic you put up off van omerens motor ie: pitters motor, remember them well, just wondered if you could confirm to me if pitters are still running as i have not seen any of thier trucks about for some time mate, last i saw of them was when i lived in soton about 11yrs ago, they were doing quite a bit of conainer work, but like i say have not seen them about for some time. i can remember doing a lot of work for them years ago when they had all the cape fruit out of the docks, i had six scammeles on full time for them,i was running swindon transport in those days, had an office in queen street in the same block as foots transport, we used to load fruit for east kent packer then, load on a sunday then run with it on monday, tip the load then straight back to soton have a bit of nosh,an hour or twos sleep then start work again, used to meet the french boys and tranship cauliflowers and deliver them at night to the markets.Bev Wyatt.

Could this be the same foots transport ,i knew, they 10%their work of the docks,if so i used to come down over night loaded for fawly, the son tipped my load and reloaded me for the north and delivered the truck to the floating bridge cafe were i was staying. If so they were grand people.vic.

Hi is this Scania from the same Reeves that had a yard at Four Posts Hill at the bottom of Hill Lane? As I remember Jimmy Gavagan ran the Sothampton Yard and Frank Deane was his assistant!

Hya Pat, thanks for putting those Marathon pics on mate.

Re the Reeves/HTS at Four Post Hill, i,m sure it was the same outfit, although Charlie or Tir Original
will confirm this. They were just before my time in Soton, however Jimmy Gavagan and Frank were still on that site
running Begard when i worked for Fred Croucher doing fruit loads for them, and i,m pretty sure that Mc Ness was
working out of there as well with a bull nosed Merc.( or am i just dreaming that ? )
Also was,nt that yard originally Edmund Geralds ■■?

Gazza…let me know when you,r going to Italy mate, i,ve got a few Getones to go with yours and a few of those modern
phone cards as well that might still have some credit on.
As for them Digi tachos dont ask me, i only try to drive the bloody things. Far too technical for me. :unamused: :unamused:

Jimski…come on mate, i know you,ve been busy you greedy git.( good job you,re not still using tachos mate aye )
Get that Anorak off and get outa your shed.  At least i know what i mean. :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Hi Tony you are most welcome!

Molos had a yard at Four Post Hill and I also think that Eddie Huntley used the yard as well when he ran trucks as he only lived a short walk away in Waterloo Rd.

I had a sister 111 to this one BRT841T seen here loaded in France

Hi Pat,I remember your posting a few weeks ago when you mentioned you bought some Scanias from R.E.Harradine…did 841 come to you in their livery? 842 was origianally a Hako lorry as was 843, all LHD perhaps Hako was 841’s first owner.

Thanks a lot Pat for that little job you did
