Morning Pat, dont know where that church is/was but as it happens when i was a nipper i used to be in
the choir as well as being a campanologist at St Peter & St Pauls church in Fareham.
I used to get time off from school to sing at weddings and funerals and got paid a couple of bob as well.
Dunno where it all went wrong really…Must have been when i met Fergie who got me into transport 40 odd years ago. :imp: :imp:

In shorts and sandals, and black socks ■■? :smiling_imp: Ummmmmmmmmm, bet you got lots of extra tips you old tart

Anyway, the two main characters in the picture, in between them, head to one-side, looking at the camera, I recon is
Freddie King from Wickham. I knew him when I was at Hills in the '60’s…

Pat, perhaps the next time you see Chris Hill, you could show him the photo, I’m sure he’ll remember him.

Hi Fergie

| know that Chris does view this forum and I will of course remind him when he next comes into the yard but I dare say he will know quite a few of the men in the pic…

Last time he came about a week ago he brought in a huge album crammed full of Hills of Botley pics going way back and I showed him the bundle of pics Rob Rymer let me have of many wide load moves involving both Bakers and Hills amongst many others, he is really a mine of information with a fantastic memory.

He is still busy working escorting wide loads travelling all over the country.

Regards Pat

Terry Moody came up with this pic of one of my Scania 6X2 tag 113’s doing a ‘wheelie’

This happened near Swanage and we were delivering a 50 ton wheeled crusher to a stone yard and had to go up a very steep hill to get there! the driver was Jason King.

Ok troops. What went wrong? Why is there writing above and below the pic? Also, why is the pic so small>HELP!! Regards Charlie

Another one from Marc (Bubbleman)'s Scrapbook Thread this time R K Crisp who had a yard in Portswood/Swathling opposite the BRS Depot that is now B&Q. I think that Mick Leech drove for them.

I seem to remember their yard also had cranes in it so this may have been taken there!

Hi Fergie found this on the web

When refering to a 6X4 Guy tractor unit he writes it was operated by the transport division of Richards and Wallington Plant Hire Ltd of Wharfdale Road, Tyseley, Birmingham. It was painted in Yellow and bore the name R.K. Crisp on the cab doors.
