Correct in every detail, knew someone would know where it was. Cheers to Pat S for remembering it. I’m sure it was moved in ’ '75 ( 35 years ago !!! ) to it’s pride of place in the village. When you went over Tankerville Bridge, instead of turning left for Rouen / Paris,( most did at that time ) you went straight on toward Le Mans, it was just before the village on the left !!
Photo’s at the Wheatsheaf. Glad I didn’t go Pat, that lot would have scared hell out of me, looked more like a Mafia convention, than a load of harmless ( and legless ) old lorry drivers !
Did Monty and Mappo actually buy a round ■■?
tir tone , the answer is on the cedon, just on the bend, is it the memorial to the french resistance, the inscription reads
homeland reborn or i will die.translated ( by google)

That IS the “Winky” we all know and “his” F89. Was it his or was he working for someone?
Hi Gazzer now there is a good question mate cos i drove for Winky back in June 1980 but he then had A F88 290 in the same colours as the one in the pic, in fact identical for a minute i thought it was the 88, but no that one is an 89 left ■■■■■■ so ■■? R.Jimski
Hi All,
Many thanks for all the kind messages it has really helped my recovery.
Thanks to all of you who must have come round to help Angela look for the Life Insurance Policies !!
I’m not sure who came round but I have found the following items :-
A Goldstar drivers jacket with a box of 100 ■■■■■■ tablets in the pocket !
A Scania Jacket with a badge sewn on the back " I’d sooner be driving an RV" !
A Mays Motors jacket with an Altonian bus services bus pass in the pocket !
An A Plant reflective jacket !
A chauffers cap with a Mercedes badge on the front !
A Beret on the handlebars of an NSU Quickly complete with onions and a area 29 plate !
A Romsey Rugby Club jersey left on a bike !
The only evidence I have is the ccv camera showing 2 Grain lorries turning round in the yard, 1 having dropped an empty wallet, and the other a Ham Radio !
Angela says she can’t remember a thing as it was all over so quickly
We are so sorry to have missed what looked like a great meeting of the clan.
Hope to meet up with you all soon.
Regards
Richard
ps This is what Angela meant about Gerbil
Hi MaggieD good to see you back Richard hope your ok now ! were just have to have another bash soon cos you missed out !!
the Chauffeurs cap aint mine ive never owned one but what you done with me Merc !!! R Jimski
kj1963:
thanks richard, that clears that up.i never put you as a former employer of big bro as i thought you would rather forget…ha ha . hows things with you and the wife, good i hope. kind regards kev.
Hi Kev,
Whilst I was in Hospital, your brother, who scrubs up well ! called round on the chance I’d passed away and I think from the way he’s dressed proposed to Angela and even had the cheek to use one of our old motors to take her to the church ! The bit that upset me was he didn’t use Jimski with his Mercedes,I don’t want him thinking Stuart cut the rate !!
Regards Richard
ft…well done Paul, you are of course correct…and to Gazza for the spelling.
Jimski…I never knew you drove for Winky.
If you look at the photo again of the Volvo its a right ■■■■■■ ( note kerb mirror on passenger side )
so the one Winky,s driving is a different wagon.
Maggie D…Obviously better then Richard, very funny post as always.
The Goldstar jacket was,nt mine cos i,ve got no need for those tablets.( might as well be a monk these days )
I’m confused with that “Winky” motor. It is RHD and has a 290 intake stack but it has a “thin” grill like an F89. SO, was it an F88 240 with an F89 grille and knobs on? (A 290 grille is thicker and the lower section sticks out)I didnt look at the foto too much.
Thank you for the lovely foto of Angela, Richard. I’ll wager she is just as comely these days. Shame about the werewolf alongside. Did he attend all of your Xmas do’s?
Complement TIR, accept it and keep the furry stuff away!
You say you,re confused Gazza, well it made my head spin reading your post.
I think Gerbil is still in touch with Winky so i reckon the mystery will soon be explained.
MaggieD:
6. A Beret on the handlebars of an NSU Quickly complete with onions and a area29 plate !
Very good Richard, nice one, see you’re better then !!! Even got the plate right !!
Must admit, the old NSU is in for a re-build, all those runs over Mont Cenis has taken it’s toll, so I’m delivering the onions with this at the moment !
Hi All, Oh yeah well spotted Tony so that is the 290 i drove for him, the second photo throws you as they both taken in the snow!!
yeah i only drove for him when he went on holiday for two weeks he was living down St Marys at the time and while he was away i was on for Skillbeech for the two weeks, it was Skillbeech who put him onto me as at the time i was doing some partime work for them. which brings to mind Pete Monger! what a character.I’ll tell ya later He was driving their scania 140.
Hi all just spoke to winkey 1 of the trucks was a f88 290 then it blew up so he put a 240 in it with the pump and turbo off the 290. the other one was a f89 which he only had for a few months and sold it on the engine was not to good ether.before anyone asks he is back driving for widdowsons fro leicester been on there for about 2 months. nice pics richard (ha ha) you must be felling better you have got your sense of hummer back must be the love of a good woman.
