Buzzer: I mean on the Bitterne side of the river, where the Trailer and Caravan trailer spares place is (and DVLA SVA Centre).
WW Howard Bros main yard was in East London & Bakers did most of the transport down to their Bitterne Wharf Yard. Bakers 1960 ERF KV has presumably loaded at Silvertown & is en route to Bitterne
Howard’s site became Centurian ind Est.
On the Northam side, the timber yard & quay was Gabriel Wade & English. The site which I think your referring to was Drivers Wharf ( F H Roberts Distribution ) & after they moved to Eastleigh it became (& possibly still is) Quay Warehousing.
C.G.Hibbert were ship’s stores merchants & bottlers of export beers. They were established in London(East India Dock) in 1797 & later opened a warehouse at the turn of the 20th century in Southampton’s Eastern Dock
Presumably the Kangaroo brand was chosen for it’s hoppy connection
Following the blitz which destroyed K warehouse & bond in the Eastern Docks, Hibbert’s moved to 10 Gate Western Docks (Solent Rd opp Ranks Solent Mill)
Supplied by Munn & Underwood in Jan 1953,the Mk 11 Jen-Tug was powered by the 39hp Austin A40 engine
3rd party bottling & later canning, became an important business & in 1961,Solent Canners was established to provide a canning facility for number of soft drinks brands (particularly a certain cola brand) & became a regular source of back loads from Southampton.
Solent Canners were acquired in 1980 by J.N.Nichols well known for their Vimto’ brand.
C.G.hibbert are still ship’s stores merchants, having moved to Dover in 1979

Baker’s boat trlr was 40ft in length " with a 5ft extension" .In October 1951 it carried “the world’s biggest window” from St Helens to the South Bank in London.
The case was 51ft in length & actually contained 2 sheets of plate glass - one being a spare in case of breakage
Baker’'s were nationalised in March 1949 ,their Hampton Park Works becoming BRS Hampton Park depot, initially depot code 22F,then 2A(in 1957) then AS & finally RC
!958 BRS Leyland Comet (2A 362) at Hampton Park loaded with the “Niger Bus” en route to London Docks for shipment to West Africa. The “Niger Bus” was built in Cowes & towed from the Isle of Wight behind the MV Mount ( one of the BRS IOW vessels) to Southampton’s Town Quay where it was lifted onto the trlr
