Hi all while at Gaydon found this pic of one of Pat Duffys (RIP) old 141’s
Now then Robert1952 and Hutpik I bet my last quid that this Scania’s got a V8 Scannie engine in it, cos Pat wouldn’t have it any other way !!

Nice pic! There’s a V8 badge on the grille. Robert
HI All,
Bakers H.M.C. UTR437H was on the front of this low loader! My uncle Phil Dibden (RIP) is second from the right. Mark
Hi all…
Just wondering …
How’s Charlie and Rose? Sent a pm a while back. Know he has problems with the old mince Pies…
What’s the latest■■? Mappo and Richard Qc …you went to see him recently? What gives, miss his posts.
Also…am planning a trip in the old V dub to The Greek Islands…
Reliving my hippie days. Am probably a bit menopausal.
Is Ancona / Patras the way to go still?
A funny memory just flashed in my head…
Shipping on the love boat for JD … Changing money up for the trip to Greece, enough to pay all tolls and the ferries and sticking it in my big wallet on a chain.
I bet you don’t see many of them nowadays with the single currency…
I could probably have bailed out Greece that day

8) hi nobby, bev here, that krupp you are on about, well i think if my memory serves me well did belong to that london geeza and i used to see him in swiss quite a bit, on the old sait louis boarder and was driven by a hulk of a guy, looked like giant haystack, and i think he told me that his boss was in a lot of trouble with SCANIA,they objected to the company sitting a scania lump in it and were going to sue them if they didnt get it out of the truck, that was the last time i saw him, but used to see it park in queens road quite a bit also, hope your keeping well old timer alls well over here mate and keeping myself pritty fit with loads of gardening.Hi Bev and thanks a lot for coming back on that Krupp matter. I am not sure that it was fitted with a Scania engine though and if it was there was nothing that Scania could have done about it as it was badged as an Atkinson Krupp and not a Scania. Scania did however threaten to sue Sammy Williams of Dagenham for fitting a Scania 110 with a gardener 180 engine back around 1970 or so, when it’s own engine blew up. He was told by their lawyers to take the Scania badges off as they did not produce such a truck. (This fact is well documented and known). Also just to add, Hills of Botley cut a Guy rigid down and made it into a six wheeled unit and had the same problem with Guy Motors as they did not manufacture such a thing. They had to take the Guy badges off and called it a ‘Bridge Motor’ and badged it up accordingly. There are photos to prove this and also Chris Hill will substantiate this. Also on the same note, Eric Baker of Bakers Transport used to perform some surgery on his E.R.F’s and afterwards badged them up as H.M.C’s. This stood for Hampshire Motor Company, which was his workshop that built his heavy haulage trailers. Funny old world ain’t it mate? By the way Bev I’m not keeping too bad for an old’un and how are you? You say you’re keeping busy over here but where is that, have you moved to Latvia or somewhere? Kind regards to you Bev, Nobby.
This appears to be one of them! It’s the ERF with a Gardner 150 in it. that Hutpik who still blogs on here, did no fewer than three trips to Kuwait in. Note the crew-cab-■■■-sleeper-cab! Full story on the Astran thread (and don’t ask me for the link!!!). Robert
I found this chinese 6 on the net not sure if this was Hills but there was not many around

Hi all a nice pic of Jamesons in Weymouth the pic was taken by Nick Ireland’s father in law from a boat !
Charlie one you might know who’s this was ■■
Nothing much changed in the background of that photo Jim, the customs house on the left is still the same and the building on the right still has John Dehear Stevedores written on it but is now a called Sharkeys and is a tourist attraction.
Great photo Jimmer, thanks to Nick for that…
Now seeing that on Weymouth quay and looking at the size of load, i assume that maybe
its a load of Guernsey tomatoes…i used to load those regularly from there when i drove for
Smith of Maddiston, ( didn,t we Fergie ) but dont ever recall seeing a Jamies wagon …so who knows ■■?
Funny how these old motors keep cropping up in different guises Jimski…Here’s EPU in 2 previous lives
Mmmmm that looks a bit iffy Ash, coming into Dover to ship out
and on trade plates… lol
Chivers was of course started In Swanwick as a boat transport company by Dave Chivers who lived in Bye Road of Swanwick lane and he sold out as he had a lot of permits, Cheers Buzzer.
Now I know some where on this thread I’ve asked this before when that name pops up, but don’t think I gotten an answer
Buzzer is that the same Dave Chivers that had a Scania 111 on for Eurohaul in Eurohaul livery ■■?

Hi Jim.
Am pretty sure that’s the same fella. Dave has lived in France for the past 20 years, was making a living importing antiques to the UK. Think that died a death though when fashions changed. I’m still in touch with Mark, his son.
Talking of Eurohaul. Didn’t a bloke get killed in a bridge incident in the 70’s? Also their transport manager at one time shared the same name as a fairly famous comedian…
Answers on a postcard please.
Roy Maclean … Does that ring any bells Eurohaul wise?
Hi to all , and where’s Charlie?
Hi Baldrick yeah I herd about that incident I think he was second man in a truck taking a boat down to south of France on a low loader, he got up on to the boat to see it clear a bridge it cleared the bridge ok but he was looking back from the boat at the bridge but didn’t see the next gantry which knocked him off and killed him !!.. Well that’s the story I herd now some will put it right I’m sure !!
As for Dave Chivers I went as second driver with Dave down to Cornwall in said Scannie 111 and lowloader of his to collect a humongous Earth mover was quite a wide load there was also one of Eurohaul’s 89s for the second mover took us a week to get em back to Southampton, they stayed in So’ton for the weekend then went to Felixstowe ( but I didn’t do that leg ) but I got on ok with Dave he was a goodfella but never set eyes on him again ! Just one of those character’s that stuck in your mind and often wondered what ever happend to him ■■
Cheers Jimmer.
Sounds great that Cornwall trip!
Funny but I never met Dave back in the day, only knew him through his son who mentioned his Dad was involved in boat haulage etc. and also Eurohaul.
As I said, he ( like many on here ) went to live in France. He had a place in La Flèche which some might recall on the old route across from Le Mans . I think now though he lives on the Vendee coast near La Rochelle.
Cheers now. balders.
Yeah I’ve herd about you lot living in the sun wish I’d followed suit Balders, instead of staying with a sinking ship
Well, Jim . I’ve not long moved to Ireland after 6 years in France…here in Cork we’ve had 3 weeks of torrential rain and howling winds
Great place though and I’m told Summer is on 28th July this year

Hi Jim, hope you and Jackie are both well ?
The incident you mentioned, I’m pretty sure that was a guy working for Keelhaul out of Hamble.
I did a lot if work for them at one time, both as a driver then as an O.D…
