Charlie hope you get your vision back soon suppose you may have been blinded for lying, they used to do that way back then your lucky your nurse can type, cheers Buzzer.

R-JACKO:

Having treatment at the moment having injections in his eyes, and an op in a couple of months. It won`t stop him moaning and groaning of course. You know what he is like.I shall be in future only putting on here what he tells me!! Regards Rose pp Charlie

No change there then Rose he is incorrigible, of course I blame Mappo firstly for encouraging this bad habit and also for drawing up maps as to where the best viewing is to be had, yours peeping John aka Buzzer.

Hi All
Hi Charlie
Car show at Rushmore Arena today if your batteries will make it
Cheers Rich

Hi Rich.would have loved to go but have got family coming. Probably think that I am on my last knockings and are coming to see what I am leaving them. It will be a shock as I have already given it all to Mappo. He is a deserving case. Have a good day at the show. Regards Charlie

Hi Rose, firstly let me say well done for beating your recent problems.

Now could you do me a favour, and ask Charlie if I can take the car now as mine is due an MOT.
I,ve been to B & Q and got the white paint for his walking stick and he can have a pair of my old sunglasses
to complete the look.

Seriously though, it’s tragic news but let’s pray that it’s gonna be a very slow process.
I,m sure that I can speak for everyone and wish Charlie and your good self our best wishes.

Hi Tony. Firstly Let me thank you so much for your kind good wishes. It means so much to us both. You can’t have the car because I need it to cart Charlie about. Now then Charlie says no more talk about health. Let’s get on with it he says. So from now on I shall be typing exactly what he wants me to put. Best wishes to all. Rose. u

Hi MaggieD,

Yes Phil worked for Eric Baker from the sixties through to just about the end of Bakers Transport in late seventies.
Here are a couple of photos of him in his first and last lorries he drove for Bakers.

Hi Mappo,

Phil did work for Transport Services and is now living in Weston Super Mare. He is not in good health at present but I will pass on your regards when I next get in touch.

He has a very wry sense of humour and a real character. I have many happy memories of trips in his lorries especially to Italy via the Mont Cenis.

Regards,

Mark

Yeah that was the MAN (with the F10) that was nicked outside of Metalcom, Milano, whilst I was being tipped inside, Pat helping me with his club hammer in hand!

Thanks for popping up Richard. We did indeed do Susa to Le Havre in one hit, yes it did rain and when you are about 6ft off the back of a tilt, that ain’t easy!

Hi Mark,

My wife and I were clearing our trucks in Turin one Friday, back in the early 80’s and as it was lunchtime the customs went off for lunch, seeing a Transport Services truck waiting to clear we walked over to find that the driver was Phil, we managed to convince him to come with us to a restaurant for lunch. Whilst chatting Angela asked him about jobs he’d had, he said he had worked for Eric Baker, and he was a slave driver, the wages weren’t that good, and the hours were long, and equipment in a sorry state etc etc. Angela said “how awful how long did you work there ?” To which he replied 20 years !!! We still laugh about it today

Please pass on our good wishes to him when you see him.

Regards
Richard

Gazzer you deserved a medal for that stint, even though you had offers to give you a break you saw it through to the bitter end on your own. Don’t think those offering would have been to keen had you said yes to an offer, Buzzer.

Richard you sound like Prince Charles " My wife and I "

Hi LR Man looking at your pic there of Phil and in the back ground to the right I think that old Austin K4 is Sibleys coal lorry from Rownhams ! Great pic !
He prob won’t remember me but pass on my kindest regards to Phil, he was on for Transport Services back in the day, I was on for Pat Duffy at the time, I know Phil worked for Pat too but that was after I was long gone !!

A bit “stiff” me thinks.

Well Gaz what is she ? Or what was she ? Ain’t an 89 cos right hand drive, it’s got a 240 air stack, but it’s got a 290 grille ■■
Me thinks 240 with a 290 grille, they used them 240’s with the double drive cos they were the more reliable one, well that’s what me was told
