Hi all as you can see the name A.Kimber was on a couple of these trucks, that was Tony Kimber and he used to look after my trucks in the early days, especially the 240 F88’s which always had head gasket problems. We used to get the heads skimmed and a new ring machined into the face, of course they were all individual heads on those engines. I had the job of cleaning all the push rods and valves and other bits for the job. This was in the early 80’s and Tony rented a tin shed garage of Roger Page at Commonfields near Thornhill and later at upper northam drive at Paul Crawfords yard, cheers Buzzer.

How can this apply to the Scammell Samson as they only built the one and it was new to Pickford’s Heavy Haulage in 1971 reg.no. EYF 886J fleet no.7052 so it could be that it was exported and then re imported as to the reason it is on a “Q” plate
cheers Johnnie
Last time I saw Tony Kimber was out Landford way■■? In old railway wagons with Mick Winterbourne and “others” as “residents”.

Was that Coat’s sand and gravel pits cos that’s where Dave Coombes ended up as well along with his amigo “Fizz” who was in dyer need of a steam clean ! cheers Buzzer.
That was it Buzzer. I was procuring items for an F10 and he came in to rummage parts…yeah with “Fizz” as you say.
That reminds me of a lad called Jesse James (honest - that was his real name) who worked out in Saudi in about '81. He was at the MSN compound in Riyadh, it was Friday, the day off, he’d persuaded a British Nurse from the hospital to come to the compound for the day. They had a swimming pool and Jesse and the nurse were lying next to it, her in a bikini, Jesse in his y fronts (hope you don’t mind, haven’t got any trunks). Jesse’s hand strayed to her leg and started stroking.
In his Geordie accent, Jesse tried the chat up line to get the girls going
‘Ahm getting a new gearbox in the Volvo tomorrow pet’.
John.
I seem to remember gazzer, that one of their guys got done in Southampton,
for importing rather a large amount of tobacco in his trailer.
This was in the days of Normandie Ferrys and Townsend Thoresen.
Nice photo ! What happend to Sayers Tony they were still going when I left the business !

Sayers or one of the Sayers had a F/off wrecker built and did heavy recovery work I think, tipped in there yard with SCAC trailers many time also for Les Flack at Kingswood as he was into that Ato chem stuff as well. Suspect the yard in Thatcham went for building which is what usually happens.cheers Buzzer.
Hi all Sayers yard is still on the industrial estate in Thatcham near Scania and i think they became part of De Rijke doing the plastic granules.
Buzzer:
Better rescue from page two, Buzzer.
excellent, poison dwarf was not impressed but I enjoyed it.
Sayers “sold/rent” their yard to SCANIA in Thatcham. The old ATO warehouse opposite is now part of “Thatcham Vehicle Damage Assessment” yard. They also took over the ATO office building.
The Sayers brother with the wrecker traded as Wessex Recovery, located on the A4 between Newbury and Hungerford. I think they no longer exist as was.
Sayers had a warehouse and office in Stalybridge round the corner from the ATOCHEM UK plant. Run by Pete (the prick) Sayer.
As far as I know, Mark Sayer (Transport Manager of Churchill Freight (Holiday Haulage) of Chichester) is not related.

PS. R U putting your name down for this jolly.
Hi Gazzer as I am a font of all knowledge I would just like to correct you on two accounts.Firstly Simon Sayer is one of the Sayers from Thatcham.Secondly Mark Sayers the son of forementioned Simon is not a Transport Mannager at Churchill Freight Services but a Managing Director of Bartholowmews of Chichester. This has given me great pleasure in correcting you.Regards Todd. (But to you Gazzer it is Tipper Toddd The Top Tipper Driver).

Bloody hell Todd. You’ve upset Gazzer now.You know he has only a limited sense of humour. Watch this space. Regards Charlie
TTTT or whatever title you wish to apply to all those T’s Todd, I only know of Pete the Prick and Pip Sayers from my time at Kingswood.I knew there were more but who what where when I have no idea but I didn’t think there was a link with Mr. Sayers Sir from Chichester. I didn’t like dealing with any of them They all thought the sun shone from their chrome enamelled butts and we were the rat dropping that blew along the road into their yard and irritatingly stuck to their bespoke leather shoes!
Don’t hold back gazzer, just say what you feel…lol
