Hi Fergie , Bet that is the one and onley Bill Miles, ile say no more. what year was youthere, I think I must of been there about 64,ish cant remember exactly, did you mate, Barry Jhonson by Cheers Mick/T08
Mick
Started in the workshops there in October 1962, just in time for the big freeze of '62/'63. Spent the first part of my apprenticeship out with the recovery wagons, FOR the old Foden, with the throttle pedal in the middle, and Tiny TOT, plus others, pulling and winching various lorries out of ditches all over the country. That’s when I learnt to drive "heavy’s, at fifteen and a half, don’t tell Chris, but I guess everyone knew anyway, times were different then… We were often “borrowed” out of the workshops to help out as mates on the big stuff, much to the annoyance of the workshop manager Eric Hill, and the foreman Reg Whattling (sp) …I didn’t need asking twice…
I know Barry Johnson well, he’s still around…
Fergie…I reckon you,ve got your dates wrong Dave.
Are you sure it wasn’t 1952 you started at Hills, cos you were already
