Thank you Colin ( if i deciphered you AKA right ) i do remember deans at lockerly very early on think he packed up because of a setlement had to be made but is a long time ago and i cant be sure,i also remember there yard in churchfields as well, think he had a boat in Ocean Vilage called the Jaycee when we were in Soton depot, cheers Buzzer.
John
I had forgotten about his boat, wasn’t it for corporate hire or similar? my dad did some work for him way back in an F88 in the blue and yellow colours of Kenneth Wilson grain. i also remember a partnership he had with one of his drivers in the late 80’s, think they called him Blodwynn, which was called J&J transport, again it was volvo’s with bulk tipping trailers, think they were based Cirencester way.
My brother used to work for Palin & Strides in Hedge End where you used to get your trucks sprayed i believe, he keeps meaning to go through his photos to see what he has.

Good idea mate he may have some gooduns hidden away,Porky Palin who is Brians son has started painting again, one thing that does stick in my mind is when they painted Lamberts trucks they only ever did the outside rails of the chassis cos they were tight and did not want to paint what you could not see.cheers Buzzer

This time a truck from Salisbury, one of Deans and looking at the load its got to be synthetic rubber for ISR or am i wrong, cheers Buzzer.
PS.i didn’t know Deaner ran any scania’s.Hi Buzzer, Originally JC was based at Durrington but he “retired” and sold everything… he then came out of retirement (early 80’s) and started running a fleet of second hand motors out of Churchfields inds. est. in Salisbury before moving to current depot. This K reg Scania has Lockerly Romsey on door so i would imagine it was from the early 80’s when he was rebuilding the company, I remember he had some old ERF’s/Atki’s but they didn’t last long before he went back to Volvo’s

I was sent this today a Yardfleet Volvo F10 A819SPO to be honest I can’t recall them, can someone jog my memory please?Regards Pat
Pat, i checked on this company and it was registered to a David Sanderson at 12 Portland St. Southampton, went ■■■■ up in 1997!
Hi Colin
Yes you have jogged my memory they were at Coates Pit Landford, well they had a workshop there and Mick Winterbourne worked for them. Dave Sanderson went to the same school as me and his nickname was ‘Flea’ I don’t know why he was a couple of years above me then, I’m not sure but I seem to remember they had the contract for taking trailers from Portsmouth Freight Terminal to the lorry park at Farlington.
Regards Pat

I think John Deans first haulage venture was Evans from I think KingSombourne delivering the blackstuff with a dedicated driver. I remember running up the road with John in 1967 when he was driving an Albion Reiver for Chris Wright from Cadnam, collecting bulk coal direct from the pits, had many a night out at Jacks Hill at Towcester.

Pat,
I remember Ray’s pit at Landford,it was were the Clapcotts stored out of season tankers and they had some “spares” motors up there as well. Spent many hours removing salvageable parts in our quiet times. This was probably way before Yardfleet were around. The photo you showed is for sale in several locations on the internet, wouldn’t think they’ve sold that many copies
