Charlie i hear your plea for help and after considering all the facts you should listen to Mappo,he is like a wise old owl and i know the stuff we use will get that crap off the roof of your tin tent.We are just of junction 9 of the M27 and Trevor who is our yard man and will do the buisness as he can be lifted in the cage on a forklift so as to do a good job,and when you have finished he will more than likely make you a cup of tea and if you are really lucky you may even get a piece of my home made bread pudding. As always we are never knowingly undersold at Davies International and are officially classed as the forth emergency service so pop along and report to reception and you will be dealt with cheers Buzzer (the loss making division of the company)

Hello trunker08
There are a couple of names there i remember.Les Tull drove for Russell Davis for years mainly on TML contract if i remember correctly.
Bill Bodmin ended up at Henry Smithers as head of engineering.I think dad has a photo of Brian Pore and Bill Bodmin i will put it on at some point. All the names you mention ive heard dad speak of those drivers.I think dad mated with Reg Green for a while.Have you spoke to dad lately?
Regards Jacko jnr

Les Tull was one of the 4 original drivers to join Silver Roadways when they opened their Southampton depot in 1973 (3 of the drivers were ex Bakers-Les Tull,George Loveridge & Doug ----.The 4th was Pete Prouse ex Lamberts)
Nationally Silver Roadways were by this time predominantly Mercedes operators, but 4 new Leyland powered S39 Fodens were
allocated to Southampton. Tate & Lyle had various dealerships & at Totton ,TES became the ERF dealership which late passed to KL Commercials ( Meachers)
Les Tull’s time with Silver Roadways sadly proved to be short lived after he entered the demolition business when coming down the hill in Whitchurch.Note that his well roped load of packaged sugar didn’t move
Gerry Whelan was another Totton driver (having transferred from Silver Roadways London depot). He then became an owner driver with a MB 1924 tractor unit financed by a farmer/smallholder from Linwood in the forest (Pete Hailey) He then worked for LTS Freight Ltd on containers & traction, as did Mike Walker((M&S transport,Swanage) with his violet coloured Scania 80 PRV—J.
Both later moved further afield with Astrans

I meant Southern Road, not Central Road as the BRS depot was in Southern Road (later became Norman Offer transport depot)

Someone posted a simliar foto to this a while back ( I carn’t be ar**d to look back). Anyone remember where it is?

Hi, new to the forum,

Does any body of the Southampton area remember a 4 wheeled Volvo 88 approx 1969 (currently on Q plate but would like to return to original plate) that was used by Princes of Southampton as a breakdown truck…
My friend is currently in restoration of this veichle and would like to find out any information or pictures of this truck.

Cheers
