Hi Rich not sure if that was the same Merc as I think they did have a few!

I know that Barry Barnes did take the Merc the girl was killed in down to the Middle East minus the top bunk which the police kept!!!

Regards Pat

I just put this on the Davies thread and felt it deserved a mention here

Hey Tony I thought you would be retired by now with that big pension from one of your earlier employers Lee West and Co Ltd.

Here is a pic of your truck parked in Southampton High Street

Regards Pat

Hi John,

Yes that was Angie’s she wanted a Rolls Royce for Christmas so I got her this old “Roller” years ago she used it to Ram Raid hay & straw merchants to get Tony enough feed to get the horses to Italy and back, those were the days before he drove Pat’s motor, and then the Mack :unamused: :unamused:

Here he is trying to find his trailer ready to ship out

Spoke to Monty the other day, so got some info on his photo’s that Pat put on for him
( he doesn’t have a computer, waste of good beer money apparently ) starting on page 234 with the ……

Townsend “Viking Trader” , when you reversed on / drove off…the hard way…pic taken in le Harve.

The Armstrong FL7 …Taken at Nicholas, Paris…

The P.O ERF was a load of Schweppes, delivering to Millbrook.

The Smiths Albion super 6, baths car Park.

The Scammel and the AEC Regent tanker were bought photo’s.

Bakers ERF with low loader, delivering a Steam Traction Engine to Knebworth House.

The 6X2 ERF for Press, bought photo.

ETN, photo given to Mont by Charlie Samways, mate on the heavy’s…that bridge looks familiar…Romsey ?

Monty ( aged 22 ) with AUU, Crane loaded over the side for a short move when the M4 was being built.

Foden 6X4…Monty loading a concrete boat ( the L plates were for Len Page, who wanted to become a driver as years as a mate )… The boat was built by an Australian, who worked at Esso refinery, he built it just out side the refinery fence, Mont was told to get a cheque off the guy before he moved it to Lymington, which he did…the cheque bounced, so did the one to Sparrows Crane hire. The guy was going to finish it off at a boat yard and eventually sail it back to Australia. It remained at Lymington for a long time, with nothing done to it, no doubt becoming a very expensive bath tub.

AUU again, near Bentley / Farnham, waiting for Police ■■■■■■, destination M4 .

PUC 474 …struggling with an RB35 ( ? ) en-route on the A30 to Plymouth, waiting for a pull up the hill, Sammy Davis was the driver, Monty was mate…

Smith Guy, 28t, loading or un-loading at Greenford… Seatrain containers were OK when fully loaded, but the chassis were weak, when empty, and use be a ■■■■■ to pull around.

The 2 Thornycroft Antars, under trials for evaluation by Wynnes of Newport, pic taken somewhere in Wales…

The Scammel and the Foden 6X4…bought in photo’s

AUU……with 2 trailer wheels on the back by the coupling. The trailer ran a bearing, so Monty loaded the wheels in case they got nicked ! Pic at the Shothanger café, between Tewksbury / Kiddeminster

MANs and a Scania…taken at the tanker wash facility, Grubers at Ludwigshafen Germany……getting a tank washed out ready to load wine,( possible in the Moselle valley)

A young Mont, with the first new truck he ever drove, the work was good, as was the money, all the same, the job was boring. Filling up at the shell garage in Osbourne St George

Next shots, Scammel and F86, Armstrongs, parked outside his mums place in Droxford square. Well, we all popped in to see our Mums from time to time…didn’t we !!

ETN, another given to him by Charlie Samways, helping out pulling another 2 Scammel ( Constructors ? )…these days, its all done with one truck !!

Wynnes Diamond T with possibly Leyland cab and ■■■■■■■ engine according to the badge…bought in photo.

AUU with (Jim Purkess) as driver, pulling, and the Antar pushing…another Charlie photo.

The Pickfords and the Scammel…bought in photo’s

That’s it I think. Excuse the spelling mistakes…
