Can any one tell me , how many volvo’s Bakers had? and when he stoped tradeing and why? From what i know and have read he was a bit of a tirant? i wonder iff the driver i mated on 9311TR ever hah a 6 wheel erf or volvo, any one know?

Hi as far as I know Eric had two Volvo’s a 6X4 F89 and a RHD 6X2 F88.

I know that Bob Cartwright ended up with the F88 don’t know where the F89 ended up!

R.I.P another Southampton driver, Mick Burchett passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning. He’d suffered a stroke 16 years ago, and had spend that time in a hospice in Petersfield.

He drove for Glider Coaches, Hill of Botley, Victory / Amey Transport, Smith of Maddiston and Molo, to name a few… His son Keven is still in haulage running 3 Magnums out of Felixstowe.

Somewhere on this thread, is a photo of it in AVON Tyre livery, which is how it was when I drove it. I’ve seen a photo of it in brown as well…and at one time is was just plain red… Good wagon, use to get a bit hot going over Colmar to Swiss, but other than that, a reliable old motor…

Known him since I was about 12…he use to take me to school when he drove for Gliders !! Worked with him on Victory and Smiths.
