London Route Question

Hi guys, I’m wondering if anyone familiar with London may be able to give me a bit of advice.

I’ll be travelling from the A406 at Wembley to the A314 at Hanworth, departing at around 5pm tomorrow in a 16’2" artic.

I’ve done the journey twice so far and have taken a different route each time. Both were stop/start and in some residential areas I’d have rather avoided.

Tomorrow I’m thinking of heading back out on to the M25 to go South, then A30 - A308 - A316.

Any advice much appreciated!

My initial instinct would be to pick up the A312 from Target roundabout on the A40, snd stick with it until you pick up the 314 by All Saints Church.

I could well imagine the traffic is lousy all along that route at 5pm, it’s the wrong end of the day for me, almost bed-time!

That looks like a good idea, thanks! Think I’ll try that way tomorrow. Previously I’ve been going through Ealing and Kew which wasn’t much fun.

I was thinking there was a bridge that would stop you going that way, but you’d leave the 205 before it.

Additionally you could hop on the M4 at Chiswick and back off at J3 as a split between the two options. ( I had to load up the route on the PC for that to be pointed out to me!)

All 3 options are suggested as 50 / 51 min drive with a 5pm depart on tomtom.

Great, thank you. That part of the journey is planned for 1hr but it has taken me more like 1hr 30 both times. I’ll try the A40 / A312 tomorrow and see how it goes, then maybe try the M4 way next time. Those 2 look like the best 2 options.

I think that the A3006 then A3063 from the A4 just below j3, may cut off a corner and save time?
Good luck!

Ah yes, that’s another option, cheers!

Why bother asking you will ignor good advice and follow you SATNAV

What gives you that idea? The whole point of me asking was to find a better way than the Satnav has taken me on my previous 2 runs.

Thanks again for the advice. The A312 option is a lot better than the ways I had previously been. Time wise not a lot in it, but far less stressful. I think I’ll take that every time, although there is a weight limit along it at certain times of the day. Luckily not when I was coming through

Now at Membury services on the way back after a fire closed the M4, but should just about make it back in my driving time!

Good, I hope you get a good night’s sleep if you’ve been held up on the way back!

Got home about 01:30 with half an hour to spare on driving time and working time in the end.

I’m off on Wednesdays though, so can rest a bit today before another fairly long day tomorrow. Although I’m sure our 3 year old will have other ideas! :grimacing:
