Not sure if this has already been covered but saw it on another forums so copied and pasted…
** IMPORTANT **
For those of you who drive into London (within M25) the LEZ regulations have been very quietly ramped up as from yesterday. Small vans transit sized between 1.205 Tonnes and 3.5 tonnes registered as new before 1st January 2002 and without a Euro3 spec engine are banned risking a daily charge of £500.
Larger vans 3.5 tonnes upwards need to be a minimum of Euro4 and registered after 1st October 2006 to drive in London.
The LEZ area is virtually everything within the M25 and not the small Inner London Congestion Charge zone.

The LEZ doesn’t ‘include virtually everywhere inside the M25’ at least in the case of the Northern and North Western areas of Surrey such as Epsom across to Weybridge amongst others. The M25 doesn’t in fact form any official boundary of anything in the area whatsoever.

Maybe not but it’ a fairly good indication of the boundary, you don’t have to travel far inside the M25 to hit the LEZ. Also worth noting that LB Havering creeps under the M25 boundary in places around J29-J30 area.

There’s enough areas inside it to make it worth taking no notice whatsoever of the idea of the M25 being any relevant guide whatsoever to the loony London lot’s policies and boundary line and it’s possible that someone with a non compliant wagon could turn down a job,or spend money that they don’t need to,on providing a compliant one,by confusing the ‘actual’ LEZ boundary with the M25.
