Logistics People

Hi,

Has or does anyone work with them? I have a assessment with them for a 4 on 4 off tramping job l, just wanted to see if anyone has any experience with them and what they’re like to work for, it’s fowler welch that I’ll be going to that’s all I really know.

So it’s ultimately Culina you’ll be working for. I think it’s better run than it used to be now it’s under Culina, certainly the standard of driving seems to have improved and they don’t seem to be teararsing around on the limiter. I’ve even witnessed them backing off when someone has been doing a 0.5km/h overtake, something that would’ve been unheard of before. Same with other notorious companies that’ve been taken over by Culina so I suspect Culina enforced a change of ethics in these companies.

Give it a go. The only problem with asking for opinions is what one person likes another may hate. I’ve done jobs on agency that loads of people have turned their noses up at without even trying and they’ve turned out to be a proper real gem of a job. As long as the money is right it’s worth try. Worst case is you don’t like it and go find something else.

The only thing I’m really worried about is leaving a FT contract to go agency. Its more money than I get now so I’m not fussed if they ask me to unload my trailer and I’ll be sleeping in a truck 3 nights so I don’t care if they keep me busy, it’ll just pass the days quicker. I’ve got a easy life where I am but it’s boring and I never really get to drive, I’ve got to the point a 6hour shift is too much so need a change.

Yes I have worked for them , they claim work is guaranteed , it’s not , ask the 60 they finished when work dropped off , your hours arnt guaranteed , if you finish in 8 hrs you’ll get 8 hrs my mates wages were cut earlier this year from £17.50 to
Apx 16 .12 ph ( just a txt saying wages cut from next week ) ( with your hol pay out of that it’s £14.50 apx I believe
This is mine / mates experience , basically you were a stobart driver , controlled by them , your hours had to be approved by them , but you get none of the stuff there drivers get , it suited me as I could have as much time off as I needed with health issues , I’ve no mortgage / kids , ok for money
I’d be very careful if your in a full time job , have a mortgage / kids ,
Let’s be honest , logistics people exist because other than a wage it costs culina / Fowler welch , stobart etc nothing
Nb I did work out of Fowler welch Spalding for lllogistics people , but on day hire from my depot
Be careful , as I say that promise of guaranteed work is not true

i’ve recieved various txts / phone calls since i left a few years ago , not interested as full time , but did intrique me as too what depots they have local to grantham , closest i know of is f/ w spaulding

Calling the forum expert on this, I’m sure he will extol the virtues of working for them, especially the £1K+ a week wages

The usual mantra on here is dont give up a full time job for Agency. You can tell when the agency guy lies, his lips move.

Christmas pay slip. Not that hard to achieve really on agency that time of year.
If its that much all year round for reasonable hours then I’m impressed lol.

They seem to permanently fill job boards up with ad-hoc work.
Want you to pay for your uniform, last time I worked for them…

,

They all…

Do that though.

ALL DRIVERS, ALL SHIFTS, DAYS, NIGHTS, MIDS, ALL CLASSES, TRAMPING, SHUNTING, LOCAL, DISTANCE, NO HANDBALL, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.

So you register and they ring you 4 months later with a job cleaning toilets in a local gymnasium. :unamused:

perilous job indeed, with all those fellas pumping biceps in front of a mirror.

Does Stobart on A5 get drivers from any other agency than Logistics People? Not keen on wearing that lemming’s suit they fit their drivers in

Wages they quote includes your Holiday % so not all great

I’m hoping to emigrate within the year so i’ll not be wanting holidays. I’m just wanting as much money as I can get in a short space of time.

If it is through an agency then they are notorious for false promises and telling porkies. Whether you are about to leave a job based on what they say probably won’t be on their radar.

A lot of the time it is zero hours guaranteed. Many times if you don’t help them out, then you will be punished with poor shifts for however long the particular consultant thinks appropriate.

One thing to consider is that despite equal pay now being fairly normal for agency workers, equal hours isn’t. A question I would be asking would be what the guaranteed hours are. It would be hellish to be out tramping and only be guaranteed 4 hours work, as you could possibly end up parked up for 20 hours and with very little pay for the time you have been away.

Weren’t they set up by an ex Stobart director to originally supply Stobarts nationwide? So obviously some kind of fiddle straight away. I’ve had over 10 years on agency for various reasons and these and Challenge TRG are the biggest ■■■■■■■■■ out there.
