Living in truck

is it possible to live in the truck in canada, i.e.do i need a home address for bank account, licences etc. i think i have read some where that some companies do accomadation is this true.
i am looking to work there and as i am single i think it is pointless to rent some where for 2 days a month. eventually i would like a home address but i think for first year work, work, work, untill get foot in the door then look to settle down. any help would be gratefull, thanks

It’s possible, but it takes some doing.
Your truck cannot be your address, you will need a fixed address for the license and bank details. You may be able to share a place, or rent a postal box. Maybe the company you work for will allow you to use their depot address? Alternatively, find a responsible work colleague to use as a mailing address.
If there’s plenty of drivers who want to do the same, you can club together, rent the smallest, cheapest place you can get, and all use that for the address, and share the bills. A flat is better, since any house will have a responsibility to keep grounds clean, and maybe pavements too.

brake and clutch hotel somewhere in Canada

I used the companies address, no problem.

Have a look at the blog (below). This chap does exactly what you want to with no real problems.

well that blog was pretty typical of trucking in canada or u.s.
to start with it was with h&*, say no more…
if you break down here for any reason, and its going to take days to fix it,
take your stuff with you,it could take weeks before you see that truck again…
after its fixed you can guarantee it goes totally the opposite direction to where you would like to see it…,too bad for you…
what else can i say,its not like euro trucking,
unfortunately…
sorry if ive offended anyone, just my p.o.v.

When I said ‘no real problems’ I was referring to the living/working in Canada without maintaining a residence.

All your kit disappearing off in the truck after the repairs is a problem though! :unamused: :unamused:

i understand,
i know a couple of guys who seem to live in their trucks, probably using the co. for a postal address.
the problem ive seen with your stuff is when trucks break down with major problems,
the co. your with will either do a tractor swap with you or rent one locally so you can carry on with your load , which may or may not have to be returned to its place of origin.
if you never return to the original place of the breakdown, you dont get your truck back for sometime… or another driver has already taken it away from the dealer…

is this with most companies as living in truck you could have a lot of gear with you,it could take an hour or two and you always leave something behind

rent a mail box at the ups stores. its a proper address so ok for licence etc. get a car or better a minivan too put your stuff in while truck at base. its better to rent a room off fellow drivers who have familys it helps them along and some1 too make a cuppa when u get up, eh doggy boy

it dosent always disappear, it just could be weeks or months till you get it back,in the meantime someone else has probably been using it,
