Like button

Does anyone thin it would be a good idea to have a Like button option on this site …I personally find that there are a few topics that that I like ,but maybe I do not have anything to add without cluttering up the topic with what others have already said ,and would just like to acknowledge that I agree, rather than having to reply to multiple posters that I like what they have said

.

I would press like ,but I cant

Not keen myself, seems peurile as a concept.Okay for mailonline maybe as that once fine organ has radically deteriorated to the type of hyper bilge you see in newsagents soap opera comics increasingly. But this concept to @y mind is weasely and without any merit whatsoever.

Hi norb,

I take your point, but there are lots of folks who use TN on their mobile phones, so I think the ‘likes’ would just be something else that uses their data as they scroll past them.

:bulb: The TN equivalent of a ‘like’ seems to be a post consisting of “+1” which is only a couple of extra buttons to press.

This site is so quaint, both the technology stuck in 2004, and the mentality of the admin, bless em

Would you rather it emulated Facebook with all the crap that generates.

‘‘Like buttons’’?
Wtf for??

As Dave says If you ‘‘like’’ a post put a +1, or say you like it ffs, what’s the difference?

Next you’ll all be wanting the false pseudo sympathy doled out to the habitual sympathy seekers and attention seekers that Facebook have, or a ‘‘Go fund me’’ set up so that some idiots can buy spot lamps and ■■■■ light bars for their boss’s motor. :unamused:
Brilliant idea.

Then maybe one or two divorces could be triggered off, or members could be beaten up for saying the wrong thing, …all this crap goes on on down to Facebook, which is why I steer well clear of it,
I ain’t a mod, but I’m oot,…thanks but no thanks.

Think I prefer ‘‘Quaintness’’ and ‘‘2004 technology’’ given the choice. :unamused:

if its not broke, then dont fix it.
anything that helps keep the fannys on a short leash works fine in here.

That’s Nice, lets just make a couple points

  1. We were around before Facebook
2.Despite Facebooks undoubted success we are still here
  2. We use a highly adapted 2007 platform- we could update but it works now why change?
  3. This site grows every year, probably because we don’t allow the free for all that has killed many Facebook groups
  4. Like it or not the policies of this site has been consistent for nearly 20 years it seems to have done us OK
  5. IF you don’t like the way we run this site Faceache is ~~~~> that way
  6. If you don’t like the site, the members or the way it is run- then simply don’t come here, no-one is forcing you
  7. No-one person runs this site- it was set up with a team of volunteer moderators, all of which have shown their passion for our industry and the people within it- it is run by drivers for drivers
9.This website has got a few people their HGV licences for free, or at a highly discounted rate many newbies have got realistic and honest advice and got their foot hold into the industry via TruckNet
  8. TruckNet UK has raised £1000’s for drivers charities over the years _ we have taken drivers to the USA to experience USA trucking

We have done all this while never asking anyone to pay
to use this “outdated” site - so remind me again why you think we are outdated - because from where I am sitting- we are doing pretty ■■■■ well

We have taken drivers to the USA to experience USA trucking.

:open_mouth: My invite for that must have got lost in the post Rikki.

The word quaint seems to have ruffled some feathers.
It was actually a compliment Ricki.
I have been here since the start and am still here.
I am not on Facebook or any social media, so that should tell you something.
Hope it lasts another 20 years, thanks for your hard work keeping it running

The site grows every year, of course it does, there are 75 new members a week trolling all the posts. I have had the same username since I joined.
