Hi, I recently renewed my hgv entitlement ,class 2 as I have reached the grand old age of 66. However all other entitlements expire at my 70th birthday,but my cat c is only valid to next year .anyone know of a reason for this ?

You have a pre 1997 licence so those categories placed on the licence when you passed prior to 1997 do not expire until age 70
Categories gained by passing a further test such as cat C - old HGV - have a different medical expiry date
Daft thing is this regarding cat C1
You have a pre 1997 C1 and another C1 hidden behind your cat C
Pre 1997 C1 needs a D4 medical at age 70 and lasts for 3 years
C1 covered by cat C needs a D4 medical from age 65 and lasts for 1 year
