Just a quickie…my licence expires on 12 April 2025.
My Mrs booked me a medical which is on the 25 Feb 25.
Is this too soon, will I need to book one a bit nearer to the expiry date by the regulations?
Thanks.
I expect others will deny or confirm but i had my first medical about 2 years before i got my licence. As it took me a while to get the money together for lessons so i assume its the same for renewal
I’m sure the form D4 (hgv medical form) used to be valid for 12 weeks but it appears to now be valid for 4 months.
I would assume that’s 16 weeks rather than 4 calendar months.
I make the dates you’ve mentioned less than 9 weeks so you should be OK.
That’s what I wanted to hear…
Thanks for that…
Similar situation. Did mine 2 weeks ago. Can’t do anything until the letter and forms come through from DVLA which are automatically sent to you because the doctor needs to fill the form in that you need to send back to DVLA with your old licence to renew.
Think my letter came through with about 5 weeks left on my license. Did my medical straight away. Posted it all back to DVLA recorded delivery on a Saturday and I think my new license was back by the Friday.
You don’t have to wait for the reminders to come through. If you want to get on with it as work time allows when renewal is approaching just pick up the relevant forms from a post office.
Had to cancel it anyway,.went to Specsavers for a prescription for my medical, turns out my glasses needed changing as I would not have passed with them.
New ones coming tomoro…£300 ffs
So medical next week now.
I’ve had 3 eye tests now at the opticians branch I use since moving, they can either tell or have learned quickly I’m too tight to get frames and lenses from them and instead go online to replace old glasses when required.
When time is of the essence then there is perhaps little option though.
£300 ! do they see behind you then
I’m guessing varifocal plus in cab reactions
unless they’re a pair like these
Exactly like them mate yeah.
What do ya think?
Yep all of that, but on a 2 for one, so not too bad, but bad enough.
I could have took the prescription to Asda and got them cheaper, but at that point I did not know if I could re.book another medical for this Tues, and they said they would do their utmost to get me them for tomorrow.
In meantime I DID manage to re.book my medical just in case, and you guessed it …Specsavers say I can pick up my new glasses tomorrow after all.
Story of my life mate.
how do you get on with the varifocals? i find im forever having to move my head around to get what ever im looking at in focus. As to anything small forget it.
Waterproof pants are your friend!
soon as i typed that i knew someone would make a comment
When I first got them the ground looked much closer and I walked like John Cleese in his silly walk sketch.
Also sat up in the truck it appeared to be sat down lower.
Completely ok with them now no probs.
Cheers mate.
Thing is in reality Elton John has the same hairstyle as me.
