Lhoist, hindlow quarry

I’ve got to get loaded at Hindlow quarry in the morning looking at the map it seems a pain to get to because of the low bridge. Any one have any ideas about the best way to get there , I’m starting from Tinsley in Sheffield. I’ll be dragging a high cube container at 14ft 6ins.

it’s just up the road from me, which direction are you coming from?

just read again doh! you need to turn off the a 515 at Hurdlow then take first right at High needham and head for Earl sterndale, follow your nose then bear right, follow to the end of the road and turn right again follow up and over hill quarry is on your right this route is through a village, cant remember that bridge height in question

Thanks for that, the bridge is just by the quarry entrance going towards the A515. I had seen that route on the map but wasn’t sure it was suitable for an artic and was planning on going through Crowdecote to Longnor then turning right towards the quarry. The height of the bridge is 14ft 2ins I might squeeze under it but it’s not worth the risk.

should be ok with that bridge , i used to go in regular with a 14’3 trailer with plenty of clearance . try a pm to limey , he worked there

I think that bridge is 14’3

the second right in Earl sterdale is quite tight I think,

only go to the royal oak if you are very hungry , the meals they serve are huge . i recommend he pork and chicken pie , gorgeous .

Ye good food there ,I’ve been quite a lot but it’s very noisey people constantly coming and going .

I ended up lowering the suspension and driving under the right hand side of the bridge and it goes under quite easily. There is a bit more room on the right side going towards the quarry, so you can get a 14ft 6ins trailer under a 14ft 3ins bridge, well this bridge anyway. Thanks for all the advice chaps it was very welcome.
