Lgv speedlimits

i was just wondering what are the speed limits driving a class 1
are they different to driving other vehicles on a single carriage way, dual carriagway, and a motorway?

also i have read loads of tales tonight about the trailer brake,as a total newbie to trailers i find it absolute crazy not to apply it,its not as if its hard work is it?
it has really made me think who the hell in there right mind would not apply this device.

it would be interesting to ask some of these drivers and shunters who dont use the trailer brake, "SO YOU DONT APPLY YOUR HANDBRAKE IN YOUR CAR WHEN YOU PARK YOUR CAR DO YOU "■■? ,as far as i am concerned its the same thing .
sorry i am going on a bit now aint i.

all the best vigfanbke

THINK THE WORSE ANYTHING ELSE IS A BONUS.

Speed limits are 40, 50, 60 for all LGVs over 7.5 tonnes.

40 - Single Carridgeway Road

50 - Duel Carridgeway

60mph - unlimited vehicle on a motorway, if not, then 56mph .

There is a thread in this section a bit further down the page about trailer brakes.

Well, actually, :bulb: No. It’s an Automatic so I just bang it in park.

Economy of effort. Why move two levers when one will do.

please bear in mind that some handbrakes come on as soon as you release the red sussie, and some are manual.you will get the hang of it eventually m8,but 1st and foremost i’d concentrate on getting your lesson’s and then doing your test and passing without worrying about what other drivers do or don’t do.if they don’t apply the brake then that is there look out not yours and as long as your doing it right then that’s all that matter’s.you have got more to worry about without worrying over what other’s are doing.

blimey kitkat did you get out of bed the wrong side buddy.
i was only putting my view across sorry to offend you
maybe i touchd a raw nerve on the trailer handbrake.

:open_mouth: :open_mouth:
Think you’ve read him wrong there mate. All he was trying to say i think is concentrate on what you do and not what others dont do :unamused: that way you will always be confident you have done everything right.

well thats what i think anyway

what at 1205am.ie five past midnight  …don’t get me wrong m8,i know that your only putting your views across m8,your entitled to and i for one won’t and never will stop you.that’s what the boards are for.all i was saying is for you yourself to do it the correct way and as long as you know yourself that your doing it right then that’s all that matter’s.if another driver fail’s to apply the trl brake then that is his worry.if i offended you then i appologies as it was not ment to.it is hard enough for guy’s like yourself who are thinking about doing their class1 lessons/test with all the safety that surrounds it.look after no1 in this game m8 coz no one else will.good luck when you decide to do your lessons/test.and please don’t worry about thing’s as it will make you worry to much.

vigfanbke - when I took my class1 test (and this may the same for lots of people) I hadn’t got a clue about reversing or uncoupling trailers, I just let the instructor, who was and will be an experienced driver, show me. I went from being a car driver to holding a class1 licence in about 8 lessons so I don’t see any reason why an experienced rigid driver like yourself will struggle

THANKS MRPJ
i tend to get a bit worked up as you can tell.but your words are encouraging.

At the end of the day, your training to pass a test. That must be your first priority. Then you can worry about everything else, because without that bit of paper, you won’t get anywhere .

As they say in the Unix world, RTFM. Seriously though, you should be, all this stuff is in there.
