LGV info not in the highway code, but is asked in theory?

I have my theory test a week on friday. On the whole I am OK with this. I have the DSA theory test for LGV cd rom and its fine and dandy to work through.

I’m combining learning the info with things like the latest copy of the highway code. But its pretty apparent that there are LGV related questions which could be asked in the theory test that dont seem covered / discussed in any detail in the HC booklet.

Off the top of my head I mean things such width’s needing escorts / notifications. Unless specified / signed, what is the minimum height of a bridge in the UK, driver working hours etc.

I know I can get the right answer from learning the correct reponse to a question, but that seems to be the wrong way round of learning the info. Where is the original source of rules / guidance on LGV related issues such as

  • speed on motorway of an extremely heavy / wide load
  • maximum width allowed before you need escorts etc etc
  • working hours guidance.

Basically, is there a highway code for LGVs ?

sorry if its a dumb question …

This is what you are looking for.

thanks !

dont know how i missed that one … i was looking through the other books on the shelves and didn’t pick up on a mention of an LGV one.

i’ll order that the now.

Thanks for that too, I got the old one as I was expecting the new one, but they hadn’t brought it out when they updated the HC and the CD-R.

I learn with the CD-R quite a bit, then was reading the LGV book and going “Ahhh, just learnt that on the CDR last night…and that… and that!”

So you’ll find most of the answers for the LGV thery test multi-choice in the book too. I learnt the bus theory test (and got full marks) entirely from the CD-R.

The HC is so far looking only useful for one thing - propping up that wobbly table leg I have! :unamused:

Best of luck, but with enough study of the CD-R you’ll walk that bit.
