Hi i am a 20 year old contemplating becoming a class 2 driver. I have no previous experience of driving trucks but have regualry driven large agricultural equipment in excess of 23 tonnes. However after reading around on the internet that the industry rarely takes on newbies like myself with little or no experience i am debating whether it is worth spending large amounts of money on becoming a class 2 driver ? Any feedback would be much appreciated, Thanks.
Hello Rhys and welcome to the forum. There are places that will take on young drivers. Sometimes looking through a agency is best. Id look for 7.5 tonne work first if I was in your position, as for spending the money its a matter for you to decide.
Look through some of the threads on here and you’ll see that some young people have been successful.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
I passed my class 2 when I was 21. Took me 6 month to get a start on 7.5t. 2 years down the line and I’m now on full time class 2 doing multi-drop. Agency’s might be the best place to start to get a bit experience.
