Any one else work at a place that has YO YO work or Ex work colleagues ?
You know the type who’ve had jobs at every haulage company in your area and been back to your works at least twice but still chuck their toys out and leave for a muddy pasture
I’ve had one that’s left 3 times and come back twice
1 week later after leaving
And it’s not the 1st firm he’s done it at
You’re looking at it the wrong way, if he is allowed back many times, he must be a very good and skilled worker. Either that or there is a dearth of even less good workers in your area.
Before @buzzer jumps in to have a pop at me, I have had many short term jobs, but always at my own discretion either by objecting to something or other or simply for a better deal. But I have never been back to the same one again, despite offers to do so.
Edit: not quite true, after leaving Stirlands reluctantly for personal reasons, I did go back from time to time for casual runs fetching in new trailers for them with a red plate unit.
Didn’t they used to call them Journeymen or Rodney for short
The latter is more akin the last time he left , but now the wage structure has changed for the better we’re getting better driver in
Yeah, I’ve met at least one of those, the most embarassing excuse for a “professional driver” I’ve ever met. One time when he was told he’d have to return his uniform, he stripped off on the weighbridge, threw it at the weighbridge operator and stormed off site in just his underwear and safety boots
Some drivers have had many jobs for whatever reason, myself being one of them it wouldn’t be every year or 2 it would be a every couple of years
Why, well it wasn’t planned i think i only ever left 2 jobs to go elsewhere the rest was redundancy or place was closing down
I always thought of it as an adventure and it was, some were local some were Europe and i never regretted it, went from ok money to really good money
When i here people say iv worked here all my life or most of it i sometimes wondered how boring that sounds to myself, no disrespect to anyone, you would have my highest respect but i then think what i would have missed
Never ever did i return to the same job twice, it always worked out that i was improving as time went maybe i was lucky.
I have received redundancy 4 times in my life 2 voluntary 2 with no choice
The voluntary ones were jobs for life and are still there but i never had regrets
Sorry for long post but we all have a story and that’s mine
This ex coworker would just throw his toys out if the planner looked at him wrong
Much like you then lol
The subject is too open, there are more people who would do anything without question than stand up for fair play or themselves
The job is infested with yes men who spoil it for the rest
If you can be good at your job and leave for your personal reasons and they take you back you are good
Yo yo drivers always see something that the yes men don’t, why because yes men are slaves to fear knowing they couldn’t get a job cleaning toilets
Unfortunately it’s a fact
Funnily enough I quit my last job just last night so might yo yo for a bit to the previous firm.
I did have the courtesy to ring the boss and let him know what I was doing though, didn’t just dump it lol.
Definitely an open subject. Lots of good drivers who have worked plenty of jobs and different types of work over the years, getting bits of (valuable) experience here and there. If the firms have them back they must be doing something right.
Then again some are happy with their lot from day 1 and mainly want routine.
The worst ones I find are the lifers/long termers who do nothing but complain. Yeah you’re still here after 20 years though aren’t you mate… Either can’t be that bad or you’re too ■■■■ poor to go and try something else.
Is that not exactly what you have done?
Not 3 times in 6 months though , so not in same league as him
Last time I walked out of a job or didn’t do notice was 10 years ago
Your knocking a guy for doing what you have tho from the posts on here, left because of a planner, then back again, time scale makes you no less of a yo-yo
Really ! ? I’ve not kept going back to the same firm
Or can’t you read ?
That’s why he’s nicked named yo-yo
Stop twisting it for your own key board bashing
Oh and you’ve only been on here less than a day
10 yrs that soon went then? So what is it 8 best jobs in 10 years? no gold watch for you, you had two goes at Meachers for some reason?
Yawn yawn yawn .
Bye bye every one
F off
I agree, I have lost count but I must have worked for 45 or 50 employers over the 60 odd years I have been in this industry, over much of the world. Only once been sacked (driving at more than 60 in a legal zone, but overtook a mate of the boss in doing so), made redundant twice (same fleet, different owners) and driven almost every kind of vehicle and cargo except for liquid tankers and car carriers. Been back to the same firm once, by invitation, mentioned above, and never been out of work for more than a couple of weeks.
Yo-yo’d between companies no different to what your slagging in first post ,which was pointless
If you’re going to swap between different companies regularly, or want to, you may as well go agency and get paid more.
