Can anyone shed any light on when Les Sampson disappeared off the transport scene?
Also are Simpson Brothers still around, ceased or been taken over?
Cheers
I think Sampson left the scene mid or late 80’s and Simpson Bros are still operating I haven’t heard anything different but someone will verify this. Frank.

Franky, Simpson’s went ■■■■ up last year, there is an outfit running around using there old motors without any names on, just another cowboy outfit from the tales I’ve heard. Regards Kev.
Ah cheers Kev, I had a feeling I’d heard something but wasn’t sure. I’d recently read some feedback from employees but it wasn’t very inspiring, they were quite praiseworthy of the other drivers and staff but the management came in for some criticism and apparently getting paid the right money seemed to be a big problem, so after reading these it wasn’t surprising it all sadly ended. Franky.

Its not an answer to your question but as a matter of interest, last time I heard, Les was selling boats down in the south of France …a far cry from road haulage…
They went pop in the late 80’s, think they lost some Cement work to another nearby firm, plus there was a fatality in their yard involving a pressurised Cement bulker, as far as i can remember they were found guilty in court. It was wrapped up soon after i think. I’m pretty certain they did come back soon after as TSL, running ex Brain Haulage G290 Renault twin steers and 301/311 SA’s, they lasted until the mid 90’s or soon after. I recall Les Sampson having a liking for well used Leyland Marathons back in the day.
Regards, Chris.
