A reunion at Fitzwilliam arms last Friday in may
Hi
Just found this thread.
Read the lot.
Really interesting read. I love all the old photos and stories with it. Some of the blokes mentioned Ive met over the years through working out of Aldwarke for Truswells for 23 years. Some are names Ive heard but not met.
Some of Greens fitters ended up at Dale farm Rawmarsh where my dad drove for a long time so I’ve met some of them years ago. Graham Hall was a nice bloke. I recognised him in the photos. Terry wright was in some photos too. I’ve seen him walking round Swinton although not for a few months. He must be a good age now.
I remember seeing Dave Parkin occasionally in the office because after retirement he still called in for a chat with the ABS/Truswell transport manager on the works.
Dave Foulds I knew well until he retired. Worked with him for a few years out of Aldwarke.
Heard many stories in cafes and truckstops over the years. Definitely a different era. Met some real characters over the years.
That Greens livery would still look stunning on a modern wagon today. It’s a shame a lot of wagons now are just white with a name on a door.
Truswells has gone to the wall now so that’s another story for another day but the end of an era also.
