Yeah i have an old work colleague who still works for brindleys, drives a very tidy 4 serie 530 v8, sounds just as good as it looks, and indeed goes!
eastcoasttrucker, my friend is Nathan, who would be the bosses son, although i now believe as i havent seen him for a while that he and a partner have brought the ‘old man’ out!
Not sure what vehicles they have themselves anymore, most of the stuff ive seen recently were jap 7.5 tonners, not worth a pic tbh
Wilkinsons Transport, Rochdale, Lancs opened a small depot on Gwendolen Road, Leicester in the mid 50s. My dad was one of 2 drivers to be the first to work in Leicester. In the days they were flats so plenty of roping and sheeting. They moved to Burbage, Leics around 1960 possibly a little before. I started working for them on my 15th birthday in 1963. I can’t remember the year but, they bought out Bees Transport of Hinckley. Eddy Wilkinson was the man. What a great company to work for and a better gaffer.
Hi, I’ve been reading through the thread. I have a few pics of old Leicester/Leicestershire firms. May jog a few memories, hope you enjoy.
Moores of ashby de la zouch had a fleet of green Leyland comet artics back in the 1960s their yard was on Nottingham road.
The moores transport yard at Ashby has now been turned into a housing estate.Wainwrights are still going, the picture of the Wainwrights Erf was took at Breedon quarry Breedon hill with the church on it is in the background.

Very true, amongst other random vehicles. Here’s a pic of them lined up at the yard, on Nottingham Road.

Yes, they always maintained a fleet of between 20-30 vehicles. Here’s a couple more of there earlier vehicles, the Leyland I believe is pictured at the Wood Street premises, now occupied by Wainwrights.
