As long as you don’t have an irish plate you won’t be searched

Why are the rules for truckers different from those who bring back ■■■■ from holiday ?Because truck drivers are classed as frequent ‘fliers’ and therefore don’t need to bring as much in, to tide them over till their next trip.
If you’d bothered to read the thread before jumping in with your conclusions, you’d have seem this point explained a few times already.
They always assume that you are buying on evry trip. But you can always say you get paid monthly, So it isn’t so easy to stock up on every trip. Or you simply stock up when you get your quarterly fuel bonus.

A couple that smoke 40+ a day each could reasonably bring in for personal use an amount to cover them both for a year = about 15,000 ■■■■ (75 packs of 200) if my maths is ok - dunno what equates to in loose tobacco …

Would need a bloody big suitcase for that amount

I’m on a Scottish plate, I’ve been pulled and had a cab search several times and a load strip a few times.
I haven’t had a complete cab strip out ever though, yet.
While in the checking area I’ve seen reg plates from everywhere being checked or waiting to be checked. GB, F, D, I, IRE, all over Eastern Europe and beyond.
I’ve been informed that they have to have reasonable suspicion before they can conduct a search.
The thing to do is inform them that you are recording them and ask what grounds they have to conduct a search, They usually back down and let you on your way.
How much truth there is to this i don’t know. And with UKBA being a law unto themselves, They probably don’t care if there are reasonable grounds or not.
