While we wallow (well, perhaps just me) in the exotica of LHD export B-series ERFs, we might just spare a thought for the domestic RHD B-series that (let’s face it) were only bred from the excellent A-series units. Here is a classic example of a RHD Jennings conversion B-series at La Junquera frontier at the French/Spanish border. It probably had a 240 Gardner in it, at best (though someone might prove me wrong). Robert
Just for the record.
I have hitherto maintained that only 6x4 versions of the LHD B-series were fitted with the 9-speed fuller and that 4x2 versions were always fitted with 13-speed Fullers. I have now received documentary and pictorial evidence from ‘ERF-continental’ (A-J) that LHD 9-speed 4x2s were offered (as per spec-sheets) and that the handsome pair supplied to Van Steenbergen in Belgium had Fuller RT 9509A 'boxes fitted. Brilliant news, as far as I am concerned! Robert
An interesting shot of a LHD B-series, apparently operated by TRGX, in France. It was posted by Michel on the ‘Saviem’ thread. Cheers, Robert
I wonder if the above is and ex-Zucconi unit. We know there were at least three and already have two registration numbers for them. Robert
Hello Robert, welcome back from “Bilston”!
Only a quick one, re above, TRGX, (Transports Routiers et Garage Xaintois, Gironcourt sur- Vraines), and their four B serie ERFs, Spec was NHC ■■■■■■■ 250, Fuller RTOO 9509 Rockwell, 4x2s. The drivers did not like them, particularly the cab which was considered to be hot, or cold, dependent on where you were! Poor insulation. There were no complaints about the performance, only the comfort, or lack of! One lad was ex a 320 V10 Mercedes, others were off the big Bussings, (Garages Xaintois were Bussing Agents).
That picture looks like one of the North Africa quais at Marseille, and the trailer is one of TRGXs extendables, some would go 30 metres!
All had been acquired by Henry Sepchulre as new, none were ex Christien. Remember that in France your reg is the Department, all TRGXs are on 88s. When I get time I will have a look in my diaries, I spent a lot of time with TRGX, but sadly the ERFs did not really mean anything to me then. I will look up the Zucconi fleet as well, they had some nice Berliet TLMs.
Like the India pictures, thanks.
Cheerio for now.

Brilliant, Saviem! Thanks for the info. Cheers, Robert
Michel posted this rather fine picture on another ERF thread this morning. It’s a French LHD B-series with double-drive in the service of G. Frayssinet and carries the reg. no. 7420SM34. That chassis looks a bit like an older MD type, so I wonder if it was re-cabbed. Robert
It appears that a LHD draw-bar B-series went to Luxembourg. On page 35 of Patrick Dyer’s new ERF book about the B, C & E-series, there is a picture of it on Jubilee Way Dover. The caption mentions Swiss examples so when I first read it back in October, I assumed the outfit was Swiss but I’ve just noticed the registration plate where, in small red letters it says: LU-12139, which I think is a Luxembourg plate. Those colours well the dark makes the bumper look better .
Happy New Year to all…
My husband and eldest son enjoy visiting some threads, what an offer of subjects here.
He told me that the ERF LU is Suisse for the region of Luzern. Luxemburg had quite
some ERF-customers, also for the many local breweries there.

Ah! Thank you for that information. I was forgetting too, that Lux plates are yellow! Happy New Year to you too. Robert
I was recently pondering on the popularity of the Rolls Royce 350 lump in LHD Leyland T45 Roadtrains on the Continent, and I reflected that I could think of no examples in ERFs of the period, even though 290Ls were used in LHD & RHD ERFs at the time. Any thoughts? Robert
Another one of ‘Ronhawk’s’ wonderful LHD ERF B-series pictures ‘borrowed’ from the Trans Arabia thread! Robert
Vermeulen of Nieuwerkerk a/d IJssel sold their business after several of the brothers retired
or even worse passed away. The grand-children continued on road-assistance and there I did
quite some business as they guard the road-environment while we did the road-surface.
I found a picture from the old scene, their B-series of which I overheard that a wrecker has
been made of it.
Perhaps the wrecker still lives… R
A nice one from Wirlinmerlin on the Trans Arabia thread. Robert

Did you know that Cees Willemstein of Barendrecht, Holland ran this LHD ERF B-series unit? Robert0
The last B ERF to be sold by Bestbreurtje to Cees Willemstein. Lic.plate BF-81-FJ. It got nicked in Schiedam, never to be seen again!
