Surely it’s about time something was done to reduce the number of layby’s filled to the brim with car share vehicles all day. I drove past several possible stopping places today looking for somewhere to park up for a break and apart from one which had space but not enough for me to get in, the others were full of what I can only presume to be car share vehicles. As luck would have it I got parked up at 4hrs 31mins, I had to park on the wrong side of the road to achieve this which I don’t like but it could have been far worse & I can’t be the only one this happens to. I know some are going to say I could have stopped anywhere within that 41/2 hours for a break but I like to use as much of the first driving period as I can & I see nothing wrong with doing that.

Hi there, I fully understand you there, but please remember you as the driver have to plan your breaks and taking it to the limit will put you into these problems. I had a situation like you have had and I got an infringement for it, did my print out for it and a copy for the TN, when we had an audit of the tacho, the company said to try and take my breaks earlier, and I said that is sometime difficult.

Hello Delboytwo
I’m obviously aware of my need to take my breaks & I’d be declared as in the wrong. I was out of familiar territory & expecting to find a somewhere to park with the 15 minutes after the 4 1/4 flashed up but it wasn’t to be. This was simply because layby’s are full of cars with no drivers which I put down to being car shares.
I know what your saying, I have see it along the M5 a lot and there even a tea wagon in one that is always moaning about them. you would not get me leaving my car there all day, you never know what going to happen to the car ( some upset trucker could do some horrible things to it )
I JUST PUT IT HALF ON HALF OFF AT THE END OF THE LAYBY, THEN STICK THE HAZARDS ON ,SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE LIKE A 1 HOUR WAITING TIME SIGN EASILY MADE ON A COMPUTER ,LAMINATED THEN ZIPPED TIED TO THE LAMPOST!!! DON,T WANT TO GIVE ANYBODY IDEAS…
