Large cabbed Transcons?

Please read the following text and deliver any comments as you see fit.

This is a copy of a message from a guy on Facebook that has mentioned these tir specials and I wondered if anybody else had heard of them. Just imagine if one was still in existence!!!

i was stopped for a coffee and a german Reg’d tranni was in the services just before the ski slope going towards the blonc,i got talking to the fella about it as ive driven a couple-but hit one looked like it had been to the gym-lol-the cab was wider-across-&-the back was slightly lenthered, plus this had a 600 ■■■■■■■ in it.he said that it was 1 of 15/20 that was for M/E Spec.for some(special order)but i think there was a couple that had’ent gone down there or the order was cancelled or something-but it had all the toys-and i was in a dutch spec 141 with the same weight on as him-we left togeather and i only see his backlights disserpering over the top…wish i’d had me camera to hand…but alas not to be…never see it again after that…nice truck…

Talking of large crabbed tampons; I don’t think there was a large-cabbed ■■■■■■, but some people added high roofs like Hatcher and Esteppe did; and even US-style Aerodyne roofs in some cases! There were certainly quite a few Middle-East spec cabs around with fitted kitchens etc, but they were no bigger than usual. As for 600 bhp, I very much doubt it: some were fitted with quite big ■■■■■■■ - I drove one with a 350 in it - and I think some of them nudged 400. I hope this helps. There are several good threads on this forum dedicated to Transcons, one of which is just a bit further down this page… or here’s the link:

Unless someone managed to put a KTA in it then all bets are off. :open_mouth:  Bearing mind that where a 14 litre would fit a KTA would often fit too at least across the pond.Although then it would probably have passed everything except a fuel station.

There are a few pictures of extended Transcons on here, but wider at the back? The cab is 2.4m wide as standard, according to its maker, so there is the opportunity to add 100mm, before it is wider than the trailer.

This one was on the LHD Transcon thread. It looks as if it was owned by a 600bhp person:

PS what’s the difference between a Dutch and a Danish and a British 141? There are specification sheets in all languages on the internet, and they all say 375bhp DIN.

When people start talking about Dutch Spec and Special Trucks I normally find another table or go for a shower

I take it you never went to school with grammar like that.

Well I’ve found the large crab. Robert

He does say that it is a COPY of a message posted on FB

With regard to the query on the “Width” of the cab, im guessing the original poster meant “Depth”, IE, from the screen to the back wall of the cab. Think the 600 ■■■■■■■ engine could well be a bit of a fantasy though!

Oh, ■■■■ ! It must be this one, then! I heard that there was a special shed at Dagenham for Transcons with crabs  . Robert

OK lads, now that I’ve taken the ■■■■ a bit, I’ll contribute some nice pictures of Transcons with big cabs - a mixture of LHD and RHD. Robert

Then there were some well-known ones like those operated by Chris Hooper (Astran subbie) and Billy King. Robert

I take it you never went to school and learned to digest the info…it wasn’t my statement, it was copied and placed here as explained above!

Thanks for the input chaps. Plenty of home brew conversions and the likes, pretty but not quite the specials I was hoping would appear if I closed my eyes long enough and wished hard!

I just tell them to stop talking ■■■■■■■■.

The only reason possible that a Dutch spec would pull any better than a UK spec one would be that it was lower geared because of the Dutch limit of 80km/h.
