Just use normal size ones.
This ^^^
Years ago they used ones like you describe but I think they were orange rather than yellow. Now it’s just standard L plates, just look at a training school website.

As other have said = normal L plates nowadays
If the training is done with an empty truck/trailer then it can be deemed as a pure training vehicle and that means it is exempt tacho rules etc for both learner and supervising driver but if loaded at any time during the training session then it comes under all the usual rules for both drivers and the supervising driver cannot record break when you are driving because they will be deemed as working
Make sure the insurance covers for a learner and any supervising driver has held the C+E for at least 3 years
I did this with the wife on L plates, got stopped by VOSA at Crick on the M1, and was told that we could run on double manned rules, as long as a suitable 45 minute break was taken as required, because as Rog said the supervising driver is on other work when not driving. This was followed up by a phone call a couple of weeks later to confirm that it had been checked with a Vosa man further up the food chain, and no reason could be found to disallow the original decision. Surprised ? We were, but did make use of the situation now and again over a period of several months in order to get home, (didn’t try it across the water, but did get checked by the Belgians who had no problem with our tacho records.)
Thanks for all the replys.would be using an empty low loader 3 axle trailer thanks again.
